Manager, Talent Development

Location: Kohler, WI

Opportunity

The Manager, Talent Development is responsible for the overall Learning Curriculum and Talent Development function for Kohler Hospitality and Real Estate businesses, including: design and implementation of learning programs, partnership with business leaders to match learning programs to business goals and results, and development of leadership coaching and development platforms to grow talent internally for future growth. Primary responsibility includes all programs designed to establish service excellence consistently throughout all resort businesses as well as ensure all associates have opportunities for career growth and development.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business leaders to ensure all training programs offered match a business need and develop associates to improve results as well as discover opportunities for new and improved services for guests
  • Oversee the creation, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of learning solutions and programs as identified in strategic plan as well as through needs assessment communication with business leaders. Conduct regular training needs analysis, then determine training plan, schedule and deliverables based on HR strategy and job requirement and communicate availability to various functions within the organization in a timely, regular and cost-effective manner.
  • Establish short- and long-term objectives, in partnership with HR leadership, identifying the appropriate learning outcomes to be achieved, and the appropriate learning and delivery methodologies to reach key learning objectives.
  • Oversee facilitation and regular enhancement of New Associate Orientation program and New Hire Welcome & On-Boarding platform. Assist with classroom facilitation as needed and ensure diverse facilitator lineup from HR and Operations.
  • Oversee development and facilitation of guest service foundation platform and regular workshop activities to ensure consistent level of personalized service offered throughout all resort locations and businesses. This includes platforms for continuous service inspiration and recognition aligned with company culture and beliefs.
  • Ensure all associates are trained on policies and procedures of the Company, giving instruction on the necessary skills and information needed to perform their duties.
  • Develop and implement performance-based assessment tools that identify gaps between an associates' skill level and the job competencies.
  • Assist leaders and associates with platform for developing Individual Development Plans and then ensure design, development and implementation of comprehensive training programs and career development paths match competency gaps for the group.
  • Assist Director-Human Resources with facilitation of all Succession Planning and Talent Review activities with business leaders.
  • Facilitate delivery of live classroom, virtual and hybrid training as both a primary presenter as well as through train-the-trainer initiatives to ensure effective presentation of training materials by others.
  • Help prepare and submit for approval annual expense and capital budgets sufficient to support the plans of the department.
  • Provide leadership in the selection and management of both learning vendors and contractors in alignment with current and ongoing strategies and initiatives.
  • Regularly critique the progress against plans and budgets to ensure effective results. Provide updated reporting against objectives and budget.
  • Establish and adhere to regular analysis and critique of current learning programs to ensure continual enhancement and improvement to match business needs.
  • Assist in the development of a learning culture within Kohler Hospitality where all associates have access to learning and see development as a key individual responsibility aligned with their success and growth.
  • Partner with other HR functions to establish culture and employment brand through regular learning initiatives and opportunities for individual growth.
  • Ensures that the logistics for all learning experiences are efficient and high quality; oversees selection of locations, catering, purchase and utilization of materials, supplies and equipment.
  • Available for guidance and support of activities outside North America region (eg. Destination St. Andrews).

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, Education or related field.
  • Minimum of three years as a Training Manager or equivalent; and/or five years in a professional training capacity. Prior Human Resources administration experience helpful. Prior experience with customer service industries required, experience in Hospitality industry preferred.
  • Experience facilitating small and large format training sessions required. Proven experience developing program and curriculum design including development, implementation, design improvement required. Prior experience championing train-the-trainer sessions and format required.
  • Must display ability to conduct needs assessment and partner with business goals to identify opportunities to improve Learning design and availability of programs.
