 To provide Global Marketing Leadership for the Industrial Machinery & Combustion Segments within the Industrial Automation Business Unit.  The Director will coordinate across all world areas to establish our brands as the primary supplier within targeted applications and industry verticals. Through market research, business and product development programs, pricing strategies and portfolio management, the Director will lead the Segment Marketing team’s overall business strategy which will play a critical role in our financial performance.  Responsible for product roadmap (software, hardware), innovation / DX funnel and overall new product prioritization model to drive customer solutions supported by valued based messaging.  Single point of contact within Fluid Control & Pneumatics for Product Marketing, Marcom, business development, sales, other functions regarding Industrial Machinery & Combustion Accelerating Growth Program Execution.  As Director, Marketing - Industrial Machinery & Combustion you will lead:  Global Industrial Machinery & Combustion Growth Strategy (40%)


  • Identifies top opportunities for profitable growth through market segmentation & research within Industrial Automation Marketing (primarily in Industrial Machinery, Combustion, other Industrial growth sub-segments)
  • Creates product line architecture plan (roadmap) for platform products, prioritizes product line development programs and manages product / brand promotions
  • Drives integration of digital transformation solutions into product roadmaps for all applicable segments – protocols, insights that can be gained, analytics solution, etc.   Software & Hardware. 
  • Identifies opportunities for IIOT enabled new product development for a given market segment in collaboration with product management and BD.  Supports analysis for market, product, competitor, and customer research to determine unmet customer needs and translate into product requirements
  • Serves as strategic liaison for key Industrial Machinery & Combustion DX initiatives
  • Monitor the Industrial Machinery & Combustion external environment and identify opportunities to fulfill industrial Automation global strategy
  • Analyze forecast outlook of the economy, industry, competitors to determine potential impact

Accelerating Growth Plan Execution & Coordination (40%)


  • Executes on key opportunities for new product development for a given market segment.  Conducts market, product, competitor and customer research to determine unmet customer needs and translate into product / solution requirements.  Conducts Marketing Requirements Events (MRE)
  • Manages existing product line by compiling and analyzing internal and external data on customers, products, and competitors and making strategic and tactical decisions. (i.e. segmentation analysis, product life cycle analysis, etc )
  • Develop industry-specific collateral to enable sales/BD to highlight the quantifiable business results driven by our value-based messaging
  • Create sales tools to help highlight value proposition – ROI, safety improvement, cost avoidance, etc.
  • Study of market, customer, channels, product positioning, product diversifications and any other market or technology related business development activity 
  • Conduct mark research for product and technology understanding
  • Actively collaborates with Engineering, Operations, and Sales/BD teams from development through all phased of the development process cycle, and occasionally leads as Project Manager
  • Visits regularly customers to gain insight into market needs
  • Generates market campaigns and tracks effectiveness
  • Creates pricing structure proposals
  • Directs promotional activities including Sales and Marketing Launch Packages, trade shows, virtual events, advertising, and literature
  • Develops a network of contacts internally and at end users, OEM’s and distributors

Strategic Projects & Development: (20%) 


  • Explore opportunities for acquisitions or strategic alliances
  • Support 3rd party partnerships with research and coordination, along with acquisition evaluation
  • Supports Industrial Automation development & execution for the global strategy & planning cyclE
  • Creates and conducts product and application training for target markets
  • Provides technical support to inside and outside sales groups as necessary

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Minimum Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Business or Engineering
  • 7+ years of progressive sales / marketing experience required
  • 5+ years of experience in Industrial Automation Products or Industry preferred
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams required
  • Experience managing direct reports preferred
  • Technical Acumen - Microsoft office, database management
  • Strong interpersonal skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to work and influence within in a global, multicultural environment preferred
  • Solid organizational, project management, written, oral and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply analytics techniques to business problems
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 20% of the time
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  

  • MBA preferred
  • Some strategic planning experience a plus
  • Acquisition strategy experience also valued
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and collaborate with indirect reports
  • Flexible schedule availability and ability to handle high workload demands Multi-cultural management
