The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company's regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule.

Note: With COVID-19, the job can be done remotely for the present time subject to the manager's direction and timeframe. Longer term, the position will belocated onsite at John Deere Dubuque Works.

Your Responsibilities

• John Deere Construction and Forestry located in Dubuque, Iowa is seeking a part-time student programmer to work side by side with experienced engineers in the Virtual Reality lab.
• This person will modify existing software, write new software, work with VR equipment and build geometry models for VR.
• They will also participate in evaluation of VR display technologies and software such as HTC Vive, Unity, Unreal and VRED.
• Virtual Reality skills can be learned on the job if the candidate has programming experience.

What It Takes

• Pursuing a four-year degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering; others may apply
• Must be registered as a full-time student at a local university
• Must be able to commute to Dubuque, Iowa
• Graduation date of May 2023 or later
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
• 16-20 hours/week during the academic year
• 35-40 hours/week during the summer semester
• Proficient in one programming language and willing to learn others (we use C++, C#, Python, and TCL)

What Makes You Stand Out

• Experience with electronics (Arduino, circuits, soldering, etc)
• Some knowledge of heavy equipment (AG, Construction, Forestry)
• Experience with CAD software and/or 3D printing
• The ability to work as part of a team
• Be self-motivated
• The ability to learn new things independently
