Job Description Summary

The Summer 2021 Intern position will work on gaining an overall understanding of the major divisions of CRH Inc.  The selected candidate will be involved with and learn about various aspects of the company and be involved with Electrical Resistivity (ER) Field Surveys for APAC in pursuit of sourcing aggregate materials.

Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.

Responsibilities:


  • Prepare survey notes and work closely with APAC staff utilizing knowledge from the field.

  • Accurately record data points with data collector and GPS System.

  • Set wooden stakes and iron rods, cut and clear brush, trees, etc.

  • Adhere to the company’s Safety, Quality Management and Equipment Maintenance policies.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.

  • Ability to follow all company policies and procedures

  • Ability to learn new skills and adapt to innovative technologies.

  • Strong verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work safely and efficiently.

  • Assist in the proper care and cleaning of surveying tools and equipment and report any damage, malfunction, or excessive wear.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Required Experience


  • Ability to work outside, some travel.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, primarily Word and Excel are encouraged.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Current driver’s license required.

  • Pursuing a BS or MS degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, Math or any related discipline is preferred.

Physical Requirements:


  • Physically mobile in and around quarry sites and field assignments

  • Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural or urban surroundings

  • Ability to perform physical labor (i.e., strenuous long walking, carrying up to 50 pounds of equipment, kneeling for long periods of time.) and physically Maneuver around active quarry sites, undeveloped ground, uneven terrain, and wooded areas.

  • Ability to work outdoors for prolonged periods of time in a wide range of weather conditions
