Job Description:

The Scripps National Team is looking for a Special Projects Producer to join the team.

The National Special Projects Producer will lead special projects coverage for team-wide enterprise and series efforts on multiple platforms. This position works directly with correspondents and photojournalists from the national team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:


  • Research, develop, and plan special projects and coverage.


  • May lead investigations, conduct interviews or be called upon for undercover field work.


  • Write scripts.


  • Work closely with correspondents and photojournalists to turn stories for multiple platforms.


  • Edit video as needed.


  • Work with editors to utilize graphics and other tools to visually enhance storytelling.


  • Research, develop and produce stories for correspondents.


  • Help lead special projects, conduct interviews, and enterprise original story ideas.


  • Copy edit scripts for correspondents.


  • Oversee larger special projects such as elections, etc.


  • Creating original content for digital platforms.


  • Assist correspondents and members of the digital team with content on digital platforms.


  • Other duties as assigned.


WHAT YOU'LL BRING:


  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field.


  • 7+ years as a television news writer or producer required.


  • 3+ years managing an enterprise, special projects or investigative team preferred.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:


  • Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel law.


  • Solid understanding and demonstration of multimedia file formats and strong computer skills.


  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws impacting operations.


  • Knowledge and proficiency in posting content to digital sites.


  • Knowledge of data reporting.


  • Must be a team player and adapt to developing situations quickly.


  • Must be an excellent conversational writer with solid news judgement and a positive attitude.


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


  • Travel required.


  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required.

COMPENSATION RANGE:

Annual Salary: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00
