KRJH-TV, the EW Scripps NBC affiliate is now hiring for a Weekday Morning Anchor/MMJ in Tulsa, OK!

WHAT YOU'LL DO:


  • Anchor weekday morning newscasts, both in station and live in the field, as well as fill-in anchor on other shows, including occasional weekends.


  • Deliver the news in a smooth, conversational, approachable, yet authoritative tone; Must be able to connect on camera with a sense of urgency.


  • Assume a leadership role in the newsroom, participating in a rotation of on-call managers who will help weekend crews.


  • Write stories and teases for the show; proofread reporter scripts.


  • Generate at least three packages per week based on the station’s brand and strategic plan.  


  • Research, gather and verify factual information for stories by calling and cultivating sources, through interviews, observation and news events. 


  • Shoot, write, capture visual content and edit own stories for multiple platforms for MMJ job duties (live reports, taped interviews and online).


  • Produce strong and accurate live reports from the scene of news stories and other events.


  • Host in-depth programming on our 24 hour cable channel.


  • Work cooperatively with others on assignment.


  • Engage viewers via social media on a daily basis.


  • Take part in station and independent community service events and activities.


  • Transport field reporting equipment such as cameras and tripods.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:


  • Undergraduate degree in broadcast journalism, related degree or equivalent years of experience.


  • 10+ years on camera experience, of which 5+ of those years as an Anchor, preferred


WHAT YOU'LL BRING:


  • Knowledge and demonstration of editorial judgment and journalistic ethics.


  • Strong broadcast and digital writing skills. 


  • Self-motivated and able to work in a team-based environment, working well with news, production and station staff, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.


  • Proven ability to relate to the public and proficient at posting content to a variety of social media platforms.


  • Professional appearance and behavior.


  • Flexibility to work as needed within station hours of operation, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.


  • Willingness and ability to spending time outdoors, including extremely hot or cold conditions, and transporting equipment across uneven terrain on foot.


  • Working knowledge of computers, photography/broadcast quality camera equipment, editing, social media and the Internet.      


  • Computer literate, including knowledge and use of newsroom computer systems.


  • Experience with videography and various non-linear editing systems.


  • Capability to gather information on the telephone for newscasts.


  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required.


  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
