The Washington Post is seeking aleadhomepageeditorto manage the Universal Desk's night operation.

This editor will overseecoverage of events that occur at night, including presentation on our home page.This is a position of significant responsibility and requires the ability to multitaskwhilerespondingquickly to breaking news stories and trending topics. The ideal candidate will have excellent news judgment,proven headline-writing skills,and astrong graspof web analytics and audience engagement.This candidate should understand mobile technology and its audience and bring ideas about how to best present content in that space.

Leadership,the ability to planand communications skills are a must . This editor will lead a team of12editors in curating our homepage and classic app, coordinating and sending breaking news alerts, and occasionally posting news to The Post's main social media accounts.

A successful candidate will have experience in a fast-paced, breaking news environment and embrace the rapid changes in digital mediawhile upholdingWashington Post values and sensibility.

This position involves nightsand occasionalweekend and overnight work. This position is based in our Washington newsroom. Once we resume normal operations, it will not be eligible for remote work.
