DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker is searching for a Senior Bridge Engineer to help make a difference in our Harrisburg, Pennsylvania office. Bridge design, building information modeling, inspection, bridge design/ inspection training and maintenance is a core strength of Michael Baker International. We have an established presence with work throughout Central Pennsylvania for a variety of clients including PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Authority, The City of Lancaster, as well as local municipalities. This is an opportunity to join a talented group of individuals who work with nationally recognized industry experts and to help deliver the Region's most important projects.

• Serve as Lead Bridge Engineer on variously sized bridge design and inspection projects.
• Serve as Bridge Lead for MBI's virtual BIM group. The group is physically located in several different states using our expertise in both roadway and bridge modeling.
• Build the Structures BIM group by mentoring aspiring engineers in this exciting initiative.
• Lead bridge teams in all aspects of bridge design, modeling, and inspection from preliminary design to final design through construction.
• Coordinate design elements with multiple disciplines and subcontractors.
• Assist with the delivery of several NHI Structural Training courses, including Steel and Concrete Superstructure.
• Participate/lead company trainings regarding the use of modeling and BIM delivery.
• Lead project decisions based on technical approach, cost and schedule.
• Identify creative and innovative bridge engineering solutions based on client, project and site constraints.
• Provide technical guidance, oversight and perform quality reviews.
• Mentor and manage junior engineers.
• Communicate with clients regarding project issues and attends meetings.
• Work with various DoT's to deliver structures digital delivery projects from scoping and estimate to construction. Bring new ideas and insight to each project to continue improving workflows.
• Assist in proposal production and implementing marketing initiatives.
• Travel is required to perform the training and client engagement, with an occasional overnight stay, but most of the workdays involves working in an office setting with other engineering professionals.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Master's preferred
• Professional Engineer (PE) Registration in Pennsylvania
• Minimum 10 years related experience, 14 years preferred.
• Experience with PennDOT project processes and standards preferred.
• Experience with OpenBridge or OpenRoads preferred
• NBIS Certified Bridge Safety inspector (CBSI) in PA
• Bridge Load Rating Experience preferred
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Valid U.S. driver's license
• Strong work ethic
