Job Description:

SUMMARY: Reporting directly to the Campus Dean, Nursing and working closely with the Associate Deans of Academics and Administration, the Manager, Clinical Faculty is responsible for managing the onboarding, evaluation, and continued support for clinical faculty. Collaborates with appropriate team leads to ensure they are provided with support and mentoring in the clinical setting for the Nursing program.  Provides professional leadership and support for clinical faculty; serves as a mentor and facilitator for faculty assigned; and enables an environment which fosters creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility.

Responsible for the onboarding, oversight and supervision of clinical faculty including creation of faculty development plans for all clinical faculty in collaboration with Campus Dean and Associate Deans of Nursing.


Manages/maintains each clinical sites faculty and BRN course-specific requirements per state.


Attends hospital/site orientations to assist the site in future faculty onboarding.


Provides Dean of Nursing faculty (new and existing) evaluation/observations in accordance with department guidelines and takes appropriate action as necessary.


Conducts team lead meetings once a term at a minimum which includes the Associate Dean of Academics to share successes, identify challenges, share pertinent clinical information from our clinical partners, and ensure the smooth delivery of instructional objectives. 


Responsible for implementing a minimum of one skills lab validation for clinical faculty annually.


Monitors and supports clinical faculty requirements to attend faculty meetings and other University initiatives to increase engagement.


Assesses and evaluates clinical sites to ensure that faculty are assisting student to meet clinical objectives.


Works with Manager Clinical Relations and Director of Career Services to identify strategic hiring opportunities that exist with service partners.


Assigns clinical faculty each term and ensures that the faculty meet clinical site requirements.


Responsible for scheduling clinical instructors with training related to the program.


Strengthens relationships with facilities through regular contact with site personnel via faculty observations.


Resolves conflicts / problems with faculty in the clinical setting in collaboration with clinical team.


Works with clinical affiliate staff to clarify policies and procedures specific to faculty requirements. 


Ensures clinical faculty provide periodic feedback of clinical performance immediately after observation event and/or of overall student performance at midterm and end of semester.


Provide feedback from faculty regarding clinical site to Manager Clinical Relations.


Coordinates and provides orientation to new faculty regarding clinical facilities.


Coordinates a plan to best observe, instruct, and evaluate faculty performance which includes a direct observation clinical assessment of skills in applicable setting for related area of instruction.


Finds back up coverage for faculty absences / vacation.


Attends Advisory meetings to network and derive solutions to mutual concerns.


General


Participates in professional development and organizations in order to maintain an understanding of current ideas, research and practices, attends meetings, workshops and seminars to enrich personal growth, knowledge and skill in management development.


Maintains professional appearance for position and serves as a role model, leader and mentor to the campus community.


Adheres to University policies and procedures and provides leadership to all staff through guidance and example.


Maintains regular and timely attendance, reports to work as scheduled and assures time worked and/or time-off is recorded properly.


Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the University’s Code of Ethical Conduct, Compliance Agreement, Sexual Harassment Policy or any of its policies and procedures, applicable federal and states laws, and applicable professional standards.


Maintains established department policies, procedures and attends in-services and other required meetings.


Maintains confidentiality of all student, associate, and/or university information as required.


Exercises care, proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies and identifies unsafe conditions and makes appropriate adjustments.


Maintains order, cleanliness and safety at work.


Performs other job duties as assigned.


EDUCATION:


 Master’s degree or higher degree from an accredited college or university which includes course work in nursing, education or administration required.


LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:


Current unencumbered Registered Nurse License required.


Must have approval by the Board of Registered Nursing prior to assuming the role of Nursing Instructor per state requirements.


 Current CPR Card.


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:


Knowledge of state, federal and local laws/regulations relating to programs, governmental compliance and other regulatory standards such as Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) or other nursing accrediting agencies, WASC, and other accreditation standards. 


Experience with MS Office. 


Knowledge of applicable databases and computer application systems to supply the most accurate information, reports and projections.


Program specific requirements:


Must have at least one year’s experience, within the previous five years, as a registered nurse providing direct patient care or equivalent experience and/or education, as determined by the Board of Registered Nursing.


Completion of at least one year’s experience teaching courses related to nursing or a course which includes practice in teaching nursing.


Knowledgeable of medical community and established relationships with its professional members preferred. 


One to two years prior experience working with or in clinical sites, placing students, and coordinating related documents preferred.

Ability to demonstrate bilingual skills is a plus but not mandatory.
