Job Description

Since 2003, Alvarez & Marsal Public Sector Services (PSS) has helped state government, education, and non-profit clients identify new ways to overcome challenges and implement sustainable change. PSS helps optimize financial and operational performance by working closely with senior leadership and developing detailed organizational improvement plans. Our approach is pragmatic, collaborative, and always action-oriented. We work side-by-side with our clients to implement our recommendations, believing that the best plan is a well-executed plan - and one that delivers results.

Our Public Sector professionals:


  • Stabilize core operations

  • Develop work plans

  • Develop and analyze financial projections and budgets

  • Develop and implement communications processes with key constituencies

  • Assess processes and design improvement strategies

A Senior Director will be required to work on a diverse range of assignments alongside other experienced policy, management, and financial professionals in the areas of interim management and advisory services. A Senior Director can expect to focus on all aspects of engagement initiatives with minimal oversight, while substantially contributing to PSS business development.

Among other key tasks and efforts, Senior Directors:


  • Oversee stabilizing core operations in projects

  • Formulate, manage, and drive work plans

  • Manage staff and review work products

  • Apply specialized or technical expertise to functional areas

  • Perform day-to-day management of project operations

  • Identify and pursue new work opportunities - through existing and new networks

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree a plus

  • 10 years of healthcare consulting/IT experience in state Medicaid settings

  • Experience with and an understanding of evolving Medicaid policy is preferred but not required

  • Experience working with State Medicaid agencies in the planning, design and implementation of information systems used to manage health and human services such as Medicaid eligibility systems, Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS), case management / planning systems, Health Information Exchanges (HIE), and Data Warehouses

  • Understanding of and experience in designing and/or implementing systems that comply with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) requirements such as Medicaid Information Technology Architecture (MITA) and guidance around modularity

  • Experience in project management - PMP certification preferred but not required

  • Prior experience managing teams of consultants required

  • Prior experience in evaluating how state policy regulations and IT systems are impacted by healthcare policy changes is a plus but not required

  • Experience with the CMS Advanced Planning Document process is a plus but not required

Senior Directors must also demonstrate an advanced level of experience with the following areas:


  • Communicate effectively in written and verbal form, to all levels of client personnel

  • Demonstrate existing network of industry contacts with a successful track record of business development

  • Able to lead work streams, and supervise consulting colleagues and client employees

  • Willing to travel
