We are looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic Principle Engineer to join our Engineering Services team and help us drive Operational Excellence throughout our facilities.

THE ROLE

Technical Support - Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Provide technical support to Product Development, Program/Project Managers, Operations as well as Commercial Organization, and serve as an SME in Injection Molding technology.
  • Keep up to date on technology through training, seminars, vendors, trade shows, etc.
  • Provide training to Comar employees and mentor junior engineers on Injection Molding.
  • Responsible for engineering document management and asset management and reliability.
  • Promote implementation of State-of-the-Art technology to ensure Comar competitiveness in the market.
  • Develop and maintain User Requirement Specifications (URS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) as needed.
  • Research and apply best practices, as it relates to engineering services across the company.

Commercial Operations and Manufacturing
  • Develop scope, cost model, and provide support for Customer Request for Proposal (RFP) process. Develop detailed proposals, presentations, and cost management initiatives.
  • Extensive inter-department interaction with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Engineering, and Customers.
  • Oversee and direct performance of vendors and team. Drive continued process improvements, utilizing functional teams as needed.
  • Provide communication through reports, action registers, and data analysis tools with the team and stakeholders; maintain stakeholder awareness and ability to make decisions, manage priorities and eliminate business waste.
  • Build integrity and credibility at all levels of the organization.
  • Support production diagnostics support and troubleshooting.
  • Develop engineering solutions to technical problems and utilize Six Sigma tools to methodically identify root cause and corrective actions.
  • Champion Comar's process improvement culture (TPI-Three).

Organize, plan, and deliver customer or proprietary company projects
  • Utilize Comar's Stage Gate Management Process to organize, plan and deliver high quality, fully integrated, end-to-end solutions that meet customer expectations and deliver projects on time, on budget, and technically correct.
  • Select project team members, lead team, and motivate individual team members from project inception through post implementation lesson-learned close out.
  • Oversee and direct project team(s) and manage conflicts within the different groups.
  • Responsible for planning and scheduling project goals, milestones and deliverables.
  • Define requirements and plan the project life cycle deployment; define resources for the project and the program implementation schedule.
  • Develop RFP's for external services.
  • Develop Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) for internal project approvals.
  • Identify and solve project issues effectively.
  • Undertake project strategy creation for contingency planning and risk mitigation.
  • Design and maintain project and technical documentation.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University in Packaging Technology, Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of process engineering or technical manufacturing experience in the plastic industry, with eight (8) years working directly in the key discipline area, Injection Molding.
  • Scientific Injection Molding Experience.

Preferred:
  • Medical device Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma - Green or Black Belt certified.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with CAD design software, SolidWorks, Auto Cad, or similar.
  • Experience with ERP systems, IQMS, Oracle or similar.

DO YOU HAVE...?
  • A solid understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC) techniques.
  • A strong understanding and familiarity with plastic processing equipment and plastic materials, including injection molding, injection blow molding, and extrusion molding using polyethylene, polypropylene, PET, polystyrene, and other thermoplastics and engineering resins.
  • Mold and tooling design experience related to plastic processing.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Strong leadership qualities and ability to define requirements for project risks.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and customer service skills, with the ability to manage various technical resources.
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization, including communication of complex projects in straightforward terms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, database administration, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), with specific ability to manage and create pivot tables in Microsoft Excel and willingness to become proficient in IQMS Manufacturing software.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 40% to visit corporate, plant, customer or supplier locations.
