As a Control Systems Technician, you will be a key technical subject matter expert that ensures high equipment availability and optimizes system performance. You will support the local distribution center leadership teams with superior internal customer service by driving automation objectives including timely execution, high quality standards, and effective performance management by collaborating with all operational contributors. You will work with other Lands’ End Facilities Maintenance and operational partners to optimize the performance and flow of the material handling equipment and will lead building automation, continuous improvement, and new installation initiatives. You will serve as an expert who understands material flow optimization, system controls logic, wireless devices and facilitates and trains effective troubleshooting techniques.
Position Summary:
Develop and execute a collaborative process to evaluate, maintain, and manage all material handling equipment including sorters, conveyors, printers and RF equipment.
Closely manage various automation systems, third party relationships with automation vendors, and provide guidance to local management teams regarding day-to-day operation of automated solutions.
Act as a liaison between the solution providers and the local operating team to develop the core competency and skills required to successfully operate the automation solutions into the distribution center environment.
Ensure Managers are well trained and understand how they can leverage the available tools for operational optimization of the automation solution.
Responsibility for ensuring effective and efficient support of DC level operations management for sustainability of the automation solution.
Participates with Senior Management in long and short-term company planning.
Ability to lead others to a consensus and influence change.
Drive change to ensure projects meet objectives.
Successful candidates will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or 5 plus years of proven innovative experience in distribution operations including mechanization, warehouse controls, and automated order fulfillment solutions and Wireless/RF solutions.
Extensive experience in the following areas:
Automated conveyor systems and controls
Industrial Electrical
HMI interfaces and programming
Industrial Controls
Industrial Electronics
Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs
Server based controls
Managing Wireless RF equipment
Managing Distribution Center Printing Solutions
Knowledge of systems: WMS, WCS, LMS and PLC controls associated with automation solution integration and management.
