Job Description:


Tetra Tech AMT is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to provide support for Positioning Signal Integrity and Continuity Assurance (PSICA) activities related to use of GPS for civil aviation applications. The position requires knowledge of GPS processing and signal error sources, and general systems engineering skills like anomaly analysis and resolution, requirements development and change management.

Primary job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:


  • The candidate will conduct studies and analysis related to GPS signals, signal anomalies and errors and the potential impact to aviation applications.
  • The candidate's work will include the generation of technical reports, strategy documents, white papers, presentations, and other documents.
  • The candidate may leverage experience with failure review to develop or assess corrective actions or preventative actions.
  • The candidate may plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the systems engineering processes or scientific work in a project and performs work that involves conventional engineering or scientific practice.
  • The candidate will work with customers on upcoming and evolving technologies on navigation systems and will collaborate with reputed universities and other research institutions.
  • The candidate's work may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements and difficult coordination requirements.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Physics or related discipline. Master's degree in a principle or related discipline may substitute for 2 years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in system engineering.
  • Experience with GPS navigation systems including familiarity with the GPS interface documents, IS-GPS-200 and IS-GPS-705.
  • Understanding the quality of GPS signals and sources of GPS errors.
  • Experience with aviation safety to include availability, integrity, and continuity analyses.
  • Experience with statistical analyses, Cumulative Distribution Functions, and distribution overbounding.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • An ability to work in a team environment with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of FAA navigation standards, and aviation hardware and software certification, include DO-178/278 compliance.
  • Familiarity with safety analyses such as Functional Hazard Assessment and System Safety Assessment.
  • Experience with requirements development, baseline management, and change control.
  • Experience with defense acquisition.
  • Familiarity with project management.
