POSITION OBJECTIVES:

Takeda's summer internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Compensation is competitive, and financed temporary housing is available to those who qualify. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities. The intern will work in the cell therapy clinical pharmacology and modeling group of Takeda & interact with scientists in translational, clinical, product & non clinical functions, as appropriate . Specific projects will be developed with the assigned mentor to enable completion of key objectives within the timeframe of the internship.

The overall objective of the intern is to develop mechanistic models (PBPK, QSP) to characterize relationship between cellular kinetics, biomarker and patient/product related attributes to identify factors that influence cell therapy products.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Conduct literature review to extract data in support of model development and evaluation for cell therapies.




• Prepare appropriate datasets and conduct hands on modeling to address key scientific questions.




• Present project results and conclusions at internal team meetings, external meetings as poster presentations and publication.




• Work closely with pharmacology, translational, clinical and product scientists, and gain exposure to cell therapy product development process in pharmaceutical industry

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

• Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. accredited university for the semester before and immediately following the internship.




• Senior PhD students (3rd-5th year) in Pharmaceutical sciences, Pharmacology, Physics, Biophysics, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or Statistics




• Previous experience and interest in applying mechanistic modeling  to describe  biological /pharmacological processes, PKPD and system modeling




•  Strong hands-on competencies using mathematical modeling software’s, such as Monolix, NONMEM, R, MATLAB, etc
