Prospect just outside of Chicago, Illinois.

Primary Function:

The Test Engineer is responsible for the effective test support of new product development and sustaining engineering activities.  The successful candidate will have the ability to create and implement test methods, documentation and processes to help ensure quality design releases.
 
Responsibilities and Duties


  • Product Test Execution by working directly with Design Engineers throughout the design cycle to implement and execute risk-based test methods, unit tests, integration tests, regression test and provide trouble shooting / analysis of product/software test results.

  • Test Process and Tool Maintenance by being responsible for the maintenance and use of effective test tools for product release activities.  This includes release of technical requirements, tool build, documentation, QA metrics, and tool maintenance

  • Project Management by actively participating in the project management process by providing accurate estimates, monitoring progress, and ensuring that deliverables are met

Qualifications and Required Skills


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related field

  • Experience in embedded test, design and engineering

  • Technical skills in the areas of software and embedded testing

  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills

  • Good understanding of the software development life cycle, architecture and design, software craftsmanship and test automation strategies

  • Knowledgeable in test and debugging tools design and implementation

  • Ability to identify test requirements, create formal test plans, and test matrix

  • Knowledge of testing over communication protocols (USB, RS232)

  • Good working knowledge of programming languages: C, C++ or C#

  • Experience implementing and administering Linux a plus. (i.e. Red Hat or similar)

  • Develop and execute test/verification scripts and applications

  • Web applications, backend systems (SQL) test experience a strong plus

  • Familiarity with Automated Test Tools

Physical Requirements of the Job: 


  • System Test environment: must be able to perform frequent repetitive tasks

  • Able to lift/carry 10-20 pounds such as Cummins office machines or test media

  • Minimal travel to customer sites as required
