The Infection Prevention Clerk works under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Infection Prevention Nurse to assist and promote the processes involving testing, screening, documenting and reporting for COVID-19 at the center. This individual will work with a team to support our safety efforts in alignment with the latest CDC, CMS and Department of Health guidelines. The ideal candidate can solve problems in a fast-paced environment, keep well-organized records, and perform basic health care procedures. The Infection Prevention Clerk will be a leader with a positive attitude and outstanding customer service. The goal is to stop infection from spreading and enhance high quality patient care.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Guide and follow all Infection Prevention policies and procedures
Screen partners prior to the beginning of their shift by asking questions and taking their temperatures
Perform routine and PRN testing of partners, patients and other providers through PCR and/or antigen methods in compliance with regulatory requirements
Produce lab requisitions for COVID-19 testing on a computer
Prepare and arrange the shipment of specimens for the lab
Report testing results to the appropriate agencies
Contact family members of patients to report COVID-19 testing results
File and maintain records of Infection Prevention practices
Facilitate communication among all departments regarding latest Infection Control practices
Conduct and document training in-services on Infection Prevention practices
Audit Infection Prevention practices to assure quality and safety
Monitor and assist with the supply of PPE, cleaning/sanitation agents, and other Infection Prevention equipment
Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and partners
Other duties as assigned by the Infection Preventionist
SKILLS:
Excellent knowledge of standard precautions and Infection Prevention practices
In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination etc.) and willingness to follow them at all times
A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Responsible and compassionate
Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills
Proficient in the use of computers, Microsoft Excel, and Internet-based software
