What we expect… (Essential Functions)

The primary role of the VDC Data Technician includes leveraging a combination of technologies to enable our project management and site teams to accurately track work in place during the construction process. BIM (Building Information Modeling) models and their meta data will be federated, then imported into Assemble. The subsequent information is organized in Microsoft Power Bi as dashboards. Interfacing with construction design software such as Revit and Navisworks will also be required. The VDC Data Technician will be the Assemble Hub organizer of all models and data in and out of the field, working closely with the site to establish tracking protocols.

The VDC Data Technician will then organize and condition the model elements to make them usable for tracking purposes, as well as create specific “views” that allow the site team to track work by discipline.

Collaboration with site and project teams to determine tracking methods and data visualizations is crucial. The VDC Data Technician will travel to each job site in the beginning stages of construction in order to provide the site team with interactive training to ensure each member of the team has a clear understanding of how to navigate and use Assemble for their daily tracking tasks, as well as ensure site management has a clear understanding of the Power BI reports that will be utilized. The responsibilities listed above outline the primary role of VDC Data Technician, but other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary by management.

The VDC Data Technician role is a key position in the VDC group, focused on producing real-time tracking and productivity data throughout the life of multiple projects. Reports will be shared with Site and Project management teams and select data from each report will be used to create dashboards for departmental management to review. Upon completion of a project, the historical data will be used for future estimating and analytical purposes. The VDC Data Technician works as part of the Gray teams, occasionally interacting with estimators, architects/engineers, as well as Gray’s BIM specialists to facilitate collaboration and communication from preconstruction through the construction process of the projects.  In this role you may be required to travel up to 20% of the time.
