Our Mechanical Engineers have a range of opportunities for collaboration when designing and testing new products. Other essential functions include:
Master CAD-user able to complete the most difficult tasks
Complete complex mechanical designs
Mock up and test complex mechanical systems to verify compliance with design requirements
Good knowledge of injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping, machining, etc.
Specify test plans to validate very complex systems with complex performance requirements
Make estimates on moderately complex mechanical designs including: tooling, part cost, and design time
Excellent communication skills with the ability to drive process vendors to evaluate complex mechanical designs and understand the risk
Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced Mechanical Engineers (1 & 2) on technologies, cost analysis, design techniques and problem solving process
Provides reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems using sound problem solving techniques
Independently determines general approach and specific solutions to technical problems
Applies knowledge of production and operations issues as they relate to engineering
Leads explorations of new technologies
Overseas travel as required to Garmin's factories in Taiwan
Qualified candidates possess a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from a four-year college or university AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Other requirements include:
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Demonstrated knowledge and capability to use CAD software for completing complex mechanical designs (prefer Solidworks)
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Electronic packaging design experience
