Summary


The MDM lead reports to the Director of Data Management and is a key resource to the execution and operations of the company’s Master Data Management (MDM) strategy.  The MDM lead provides leadership, facilitation, analysis and design tasks for the development and ongoing expansion of the organization’s MDM solution. Given the nature of MDM solutions, deep experience with data architecture and data modeling will be a requirement for the successful candidate.  The MDM lead contributes and sets enterprise-wide data standards, performs conceptual and logical modeling for data workflow and overseas master data initiatives to ensure consistent usage and adoption of standards. The MDM lead is responsible for working with both functional and technical personnel to gather, manage, model and document the detailed data requirements for master data solutions.  The MDM lead may be called upon to lead other data architecture initiatives related to enterprise solutions as directed by the Director of Data Management.


The successful candidate for this role will have 7 or more years working in a similar capacity with excellent communication skills and knowledge with one or more master data management platforms. Knowledge and expertise with Talend is highly desirable.


Responsibilities



  • Translate business use cases into master data solution utilizing process flows and data flow diagramming techniques

  • Design and Build conceptual and logical data models from business requirements.

  • Create, review, and manage data models and provide assistance to developers for implementation of technical solutions.

  • Educate business leaders and be an evangelist for the promotion and adoption of MDM solutions

  • Working with the Data Governance Lead incorporate MDM concepts and operations into the overall Data Governance and Data Quality governance process.


  • Provide oversight to more junior members of the data management group in support of MDM initiatives


  • Evaluation of data management techniques and technologies that will support and further MDM capabilities within the organization

 


Education and Experience



  • BA/BS in Business, computer science, Information Management or related discipline

  • Proven working experience as a data architect especially with experience with MDM platforms

  • 7+ Years’ professional experience in a similar capacity.

Required Skills



  • Strong working knowledge of MDM concepts and technologies on one or more MDM platforms.

  • Ability to present complex concepts to senior leaders and lines of business.

  • Strong working knowledge writing queries in structured query language (SQL). Experience with other data manipulation and data preparation techniques and technologies

  • Experience with one or more of the major database platforms (Oracle, MS Sql Server, MySql)

  • Familiarity and working knowledge MS Office, Visio or other diagramming tools, and data modeling tools

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex ideas and findings

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong knowledge with data modeling techniques , and writing business requirements

  • Experience with ETL and data integration tools. Experience with Talend is highly desirable

  • Experience with data virtualization is desirable, but not required

  • Experience and exposure to project management concepts and tools

  • Required non-technical skills include: written communication, interpersonal skills  working in an team environment, complex problem solving,  results orientated, adaptability to change, self-motivated, able  to see the big picture while delivering tangible results
