The School of Systems and Engineering seeks a Financial Coordinator to manage the day-to-day financial demands of the school, engage with corporate counterparts to handle billing and collection, support faculty with grant, RIA and start-up accounting, prepare financial analyses, reconciliations, and detailed reviews, as well as process transactions in university accounting and reporting systems. This position reports to the Assistant Dean who incorporates these efforts into strategic planning, compliance, reporting, and operations for SSE.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

·         Process daily financial transactions and perform the required analysis and reconciliation of all SSE ledger accounts.

·         Responsible for day-to-day, monthly and year-end reporting, account analysis, trend analysis via various software media and in a variety of formats.

·         Work with the Finance Office to ensure the school's financial compliance and on special projects to improve financial processes.

·         Engage with corporate sponsors on a variety of matters including order pricing, billing and collections and problem resolution.

·         Provide support to the school's research enterprise, and acts as custodian in SSE for all research related financial information in coordination with the office of sponsored research, including the support of the SSE research financial compliance function.

·         Additional related duties as assigned

 

Requirements

 

·         A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field is required. Master’s preferred.

·         Minimum of three years of appropriate financial experience required, with a significant focus in accounting. Experience in higher education and/or not-for-profit organizations are desirable.

·         Familiarity with GAAP and FASB accounting and reporting requirements is required.

·         Strong research, analytic and creative skills,

·         Excellent time management and project management skills.

·         Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; working knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications, including Access and PowerPoint, a plus.

·         A solid accounting background with the ability to operate effectively in the Kuali Financial accounting system or an equivalent accounting system is required.

·         Work with an enterprise financial system and familiarity with database principles is strongly desired. Must have the ability to prepare accurate schedules and interact effectively with the finance office and internal auditor.

·         The financial coordinator must be well organized and capable of handling somewhat heavier workloads during peak periods.

·         Candidate must be detail oriented, focused and have good judgment and discretion with confidential data.

·         Must have excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and adapt easily to changing priorities.

·         Candidate must be a highly energetic self-starter who is capable of planning and completing tasks with a minimum of assistance.

·         Excellent written, verbal communicative, and presentation skills are required.

·         Must be a team player, with the committed to teamwork and collaborate with staff at all levels, including the most senior.

·         Ability to interact successfully with faculty, staff, external auditors, suppliers, corporate sponsors and others in a dynamic environment is required.
