Embedded Software Engineer at Beta Technologies

Job Description:

The Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for owning the development of innovative controls algorithms, validation of software and procedures, and giving the smarts to our systems. This position will work in a small team environment to rapidly develop new technologies in the evolving world of eVTOL aircraft design.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:


    • Develop software in C for ARM, and other microcontrollers

    • Develop embedded software in C

    • Understand, simulate, test and develop motor control code

    • Develop prototypes and run experiments to inform future designs

    • Follow review, release, and change processes

    • Provide peer reviews as an integral part of our software development team

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with both internal & external customers

    • High energy, self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented

    • Contribute to aspects of vehicle power system technology development including creating requirements, detail designing the subsystem, and testing of the subsystem to verify requirements have been met

    • Contribute to the integration of complex aerospace systems

Requirements


    • BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree from an accredited University.

    • Minimum 5 years experience in embedded software development with C or C++

    • Mastery of the C programming language

    • Experience with Python, oscilloscopes, version control using GIT, control systems and signal processing

    • Experience with programming ARM Cortex-M series microcontrollers in C is a big plus, preferably STMicroelectronics, but other manufacturers are fine.

    • Experience in most of the following areas: Motor Controls, Field Oriented Control, Performing and developing tests, RTOS, bare-metal development, VSCode, CMake, Communication Protocols (CAN, I2C, SPI), Simulation with Simulink

    • Comfortable reading electrical schematics, documentation, and datasheets.

    • Good team, communication and leadership skills required.

    • Google G -Suite including drive, mail, calendar, docs, sheets, slides, charts, hangouts; slack, application lifecycle
