The DevOps Engineer is responsible for owning continuous integration/continuous deployment workflows; managing cloud-based systems, services, and servers; and working with software developers to ensure the smooth operation of critical software infrastructure. The person in this position will work in a small team environment and support the development of new technologies in the evolving world of eVTOL aircraft design.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Collaborating with developers to make sure new environments meet requirements and conform to best practices.
Designing, implementing and testing agreed-upon infrastructures and processes.
Automating deployment of applications, system configurations, and security settings for production and test environments.
Providing direct service support of software operations to internal and external customers.
Supporting developer integrations with 3rd party systems.
Managing cloud infrastructure for optimal scalability, maintainability, security, and data redundancy.
Learning about and gathering new technologies and related tools to introduce to the company in order to improve the software development and deployment life cycle.
Contributing to the integration of complex aerospace systems.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a relevant field.
Minimum 3 years experience in a DevOps Engineer (or similar) role.
Extensive experience managing projects on a major cloud platform. Experience with Google Cloud Platform is especially desirable.
Experience scripting in Python, Bash, and other languages.
Experience configuring and maintaining Python virtual environments.
Experience architecting and implementing CI/CD workflows.
Experience working with GIT version control (experience with GitHub and GitHub actions especially desirable).
Experience creating and deploying Docker containers, and orchestrating containers using Kubernetes.
Experience with production logging, monitoring and alerting.
Understanding of KPI measurement and reporting.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructures.
Strong experience with databases such as SQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, Redis, Cassandra, Mongo, Datastore and/or BigQuery.
Stellar troubleshooting skills with the ability to spot issues before they become problems.
Current with industry trends, IT ops and industry best practices, and able to identify the ones we should implement.
Time and project management skills, with the capability to prioritize and multitask as needed.
Focused energy, self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented; good team, communication and leadership skills.
