Certification/Licensure Examiner 2 job duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Responds to licensure & renewal inquiries, requests for information & independently determines appropriate action for resolution or referral;

  • Operates a personal computer & associated software (e.g., Microsoft Office);

  • Explains licensure statutes, rules, requirements, procedures & board policies in response to customer inquiries, customer needs & answers questions regarding licensure status, process, system issues, password & log-on resets & related inquiries;

  • Responds to inquiries from public & licensees regarding licensure, renewal & continuing medical education;

  • Prepares & issues correspondence;

  • Assists with updating license information, performing continuing medical education audits, license verifications & other projects;

  • Identifies ways to facilitate improved customer service & more efficient work processes;

  • Commits to satisfying internal & external customers by responding to requests in a timely manner, proactively identifying customer needs & working to resolve costumer complaints;

  • Independently examines & reviews incoming applications, reinstatement & restoration applications for physicians & other professions regulated by the Board;

  • Works with applicants, licensees, credentialer, employers & other organizations to determine whether applications are in compliance with applicable statutes, rules, Board policies, requirements & procedures for licensure/renewal;

  • Prepares information on applicants/licensees for Board consideration;

  • Issues licenses, verifications, duplicate certificates & notifies new/existing licensees of licensure/renewal status, license number, date of issuance & any other pertinent information;

  • Assists with Continuing Medical Education audits, related correspondence & reports;

  • Maintains & updates licensure database;

  • Prepares completed applications, renewals, & restorations for forwarding to offsite storage &/or scans for electronic storage as appropriate;

  • Establishes & maintains appropriate files;

  • Works across departments & performs multi-disciplinary cross-coverage as needed;

  • Provides assistance to callers at workstation &/or the front desk;

  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Unless required by legislation or union contract, candidates can expect to be paid at the lowest rate of the salary range (Step 1).

12 mos. exp. as Certification/ Licensure Examiner 1, 16841. -Or 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in reviewing applicants' eligibility to take examinations, test administration & scoring & compiling statistics concerning test results; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in typing, word processing or data entry using video display terminal. -Or 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in clerical/secretarial or other administrative support position involving public contact & preparation of correspondence & reports; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in typing, word processing or data entry using video display terminal. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
