Job Description:

Position Summary:

This position is a highly visible role as an organizational leader with a deep understanding of managing and evolving an information and analytics governance program providing guidance that is aligned with business goals and processes while supporting the data stewardship community and the enterprise data office.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage and lead a team of highly skilled business data subject matter experts.  Define, manage and advance enterprise information management principles, policies and programs for stewardship, advocacy and custodianship in the organization covering master data, transactional data, and analytics assets (data, ML models, semantic views, algorithms, KPIs) plus the delivery and management of the Enterprise Data Catalog and Information Governance tools.  Be able to work with and influence a broad Data Steward and Custodian community that is pervasive throughout the business teams. 


  • Act as the Information Governance representative internally across the company to create and align data and analytic asset governance policies, controls and standards in concert with the chief information officer, chief privacy officer, legal, and corporate risk and compliance leaders in the company.


  • Organize and chair various virtual teams and workstreams supporting the Enterprise Data Office, determining scope and goals of these organizations.


  • Define, manage and ensure an adequate information trust model, controls for master data and metadata management, including reference data.


  • Assure and develop master data and reference data metrics for compliance to policy, standards and conceptual models with the deployment of data quality monitoring practices to enable the data steward community to effectively manage the data.


  • Support tools and defined processes to enable the data owner, steward, and analytics community to ensure assets are valid, reliable, traceable, timely, available, secure and consistent.


  • Need to establish standards defining stewardship activities for consistency and leverage across the community, helping to interpret information policy requirements, and represent the steward community in various information governance councils.


  • Partner with the Enterprise Information Architect to scan the horizon for emerging management tools, skills, techniques and technologies.  Align with the organization’s information architecture, as well as a roadmap for its future development, ensuring that it supports the information governance needs.


Skills & Experience:


  • Excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills; able to work across business lines at a senior level to influence and effect change to achieve common goals as well as work across the data steward community to ensure adherence to the information governance processes.


  • Proven data literacy — The ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options.  The ability to explain information governance concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to technologists. The candidate should be able to “sell” ideas and processes internally at all levels


  • Ability to effectively drive business, culture and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment.


  • Proven record of effective leadership, including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, build teams and consensus, get things done through others not directly under their supervision, and work ethically and with integrity.


  • Deep and comprehensive understanding of the importance and impact of data (or bad data) on the ability of the business to meet its own objectives with the ability to guide ongoing targeted data quality, retention, security, compliance and privacy improvement projects


  • Facilitation and conflict resolution skills to assist in resolving the different points of view and requirements that invariably collide during cross-team and cross-organization efforts with the ability to influence peers and teams to a conclusion and adoption of information governance that is right for the business


  • 5+ years of experience owning and managing an Information Governance program and team


  • 2+ years working with Information Management and Architecture practice


Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science or Business Management
