Job Title: Director, Investor Relations

Position Summary: 
Seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Director to help drive our strategic investor relations strategy and plan as part of our Investor Relations team. The candidate should be an articulate and persuasive communicator; a thought partner to the VP of IR, CFO and CEO and continuously strive to evolve and improve Illumina’s investor story.  The candidate should have at least 10 years of successfully building and elevating analyst coverage and buyside relationships.

The Director of Investor Relations will help execute Illumina’s investor relations strategy with the goal of building strong and durable investment community relationships to reinforce the company’s positive reputation and investment thesis among investors and analysts.  Reporting to the Vice President of Investor Relations, this position will directly collaborate with the executive leadership team and cross-functional business partners to prepare timely and accurate external communications for executive management and the investor community.

Responsibilities:
•    In collaboration with the VP of IR and executive management, develop and implement the company’s investor relations strategy and messaging to effectively convey the company's vision and strategy for delivering shareholder value, including regular contact with equity analysts and mid- and lower-tier institutional investors.
•    In conjunction with cross-functional internal stakeholders, develop and manage the development of key messaging, writing, editing and production of all IR-related materials including investor presentations, financial press releases and regular Board updates.
•    Contribute to the development and execution of a robust, proactive investor relations program, including the preparation of regular buy-side and sell-side engagement activities, such as investor calls, conferences, non-deal roadshows, analyst meetings and expert calls. 
•    Draft and develop Q&A to support those activities.
•    Support strategic Finance and M&A activities as needed.

Requirements:
•    10 years of progressively responsible work experience preferably in Investor Relations and/or Finance or Communications
•    Strong scientific background and ability to translate complex subjects for generalist audiences.
•    Exceptionally strong writing and oral communication skills.  A strong track record in creating effective presentations and related written and digital materials. Ability to effectively communicate and partner with both internal and external stakeholders.
•    Ability to set priorities in a fast-paced environment - quickly identifies and prioritizes critical tasks/issues and approaches challenges in a data-driven, solution-oriented way.
•    Detail-oriented and able to deliver quality results on time.
•    A combination of personality traits including high integrity, honesty, collaborative and professionalism.

Education: 
•    BA or BS degree required, advanced scientific degree a plus.

Travel (Post Pandemic):
•    25% to 50%
