Summary:
Coordinates and performs the tasks required for the maintenance of state business licenses for all
entities both inside and outside of NMLS. Directly work with the Corporate Counsel, the CCO, Manager of Legal/Regulatory Affairs and various business lines to gather documentation and data required for license renewals, annual reports, state examinations, and all other licensing requirements.

Responsibilities:


  • Serve as point of contact for communicating with regulators regarding licensing matters.


  • Understand and apply statutes and regulations, including but not limited to the FDCPA, FCRA and HIPPA.


  • Coordinates the application process if a new license is required, including independently working with the Registered Agent to set up the relationship and maintenance of the new entity.


  • Interact regularly with top company executives and state regulators.


  • Assist management and counsel with Regulatory research and changes.


  • Research pertinent points of law that affect the efforts within the licensing department.


  • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and maintains all necessary records.


  • Maintain the current state processes within the various business units and account level questions relating to these states.


  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws, ordinances, regulations and client requirements.


  • Conducts legal research as needed and identifies process improvements to ensure company compliance with legal requirements or to increase department
    efficiency.


  • Maintains knowledge of the regulatory environment, regulations and guidance.


  • Effectively communicates regulatory objectives and progress to functional management.


  • Assists in developing operational procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.


  • Act as Collection Manager for state specific licenses (i.e. Michigan, Nevada) and meet all requirements necessary to maintain the state licensure.


  • Directly work with the various business lines to review, update and complete the quarterly Authorized Representative Consent form.


  • Process department invoices and expense reports.


  • Accept special tasks as necessary and assume responsibility for successfully achieving objectives.


  • Assist on any special projects assigned by management.


  • Assist, as needed, the CCO and senior leadership with other strategic licensing or compliance projects.


Qualifications/Skills:


  • Knowledge of company remediation governance and reporting process.


  • Possess an understanding of multiple licensing frameworks and requirements on a 50-state and US territory basis.


  • Understanding of the federal and state examination processes and ability to develop strong
    relationships with the respective regulators.


  • 3-5 years’ experience in a legal or compliance related field required.


  • Strong sense of curiosity to fully understand the situation.


  • Candidate should be competent in MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Word applications.


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


  • Ability to learn quickly and perform many different tasks.


  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and extremely organized.


  • Must be a self-starter and willing to present process issues to management and/or executive
    personnel.


  • Must have strong communication skills; strong analytical skills; and strong organizational skills
    with attention to detail.


  • Must be effective in multi-tasking and be goal oriented.


  • Must be able to work on a team or independently with minimal supervision


Educational Requirements:

  • 4-year college degree preferred
