The Data Coach is responsible for the disaggregation of student achievement data generated from formative and summative assessments to impact instruction; train district wide personnel to lead Data Teams in the different types of data to make timely and appropriate decisions about curriculum, assessment and instruction;  keep abreast of all new development in areas of data analysis and disseminate current information to all teachers and administrators; and provide ongoing professional development for teachers and administrators in the areas of data collection and analysis. Funding for this position is contingent on the availability of Title V funding.  It is expected that MGLVA will always have Title V funding, but this disclaimer must be disclosed to potential Title V funded staff.

  •  Analyze school data and identify trends; integrate and triangulate multiple measures of learning and provides PD to staff on results;

  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of assessment, research, statistics, and evaluation methods;

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the process of school improvement;

  • Understand collaboration and consultation models;

  • Examine growth targets based on comparative data sets and help create growth targets based on comparative data sets and provides PD to staff on results;

  • Ability to interpret tests results and provide interpretation for board, school, teachers and families;

  • Analyze all types of data used by the school such as; MSTEP, NWEA, SAT and other assessment used

  • Assist to cultivate a data-driven culture within the school and parent community;

  • Assist in the development of school improvement plans by analyzing data trends;

  • Build assessment literacy district-wide and provide PD to staff to increase their assessment literacy;

  • Establish and hone data-to-instruction framework;

  • Identify behaviors and practices to sustain and improve academic outcomes of all students;

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with school personnel, administrative and instructional staff, and to provide timely feedback on issues

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.


Minimum Required Qualifications 



  • Must live in Michigan.  Michigan residence is a minimum requirement.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education AND

  • Two (2) years of experience as a classroom teacher AND

  • Experience working with Title V students and programs OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications: 



  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.

  • Ability to travel 20% of the time

  • Ability to clear required background check

Desired Qualifications:  



  • State of Michigan Teaching License

  • Knowledge of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act as Reauthorized by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 and the Michigan State Standards, regulations and procedures;

  • Considerable knowledge of the needs of Title I students from diversified backgrounds and various learning abilities and styles
