Job Description:

This plant makes large Structural castings in both Titanium and Superalloys for market sectors in Aero Engine, Rocket, and the Military.

This position must ensure that products meet dimensional requirements and performance objectives for scrap, rework and cost . In addition, this position must ensure that all product tooling and support fixtures are designed and built for effective use by manufacturing. This position will guide the Product Engineering team in the conception, evaluation, and implementation of dimensional and process improvements, scrap and rework reductions, cost reductions, and problem solving activities. This position will provide leadership, mentoring, and personnel development to the Product Engineering team.


  • Focus on development of robust dimensional quality and process capability improvement.
  • Develop robust corrective actions to address root causes of dimensional MRB, scrap, rework and non-value added work content.
  • Implement cost reductions for products and processes.
  • Maintains strong line of communication internally and externally.
  • Ensure standardization across product lines.
  • Ensure that product tooling and support fixtures meet design intent and are used effectively by Manufacturing.
  • May include responsibility for implementing and/or maintaining Process Ownership for key processes, and proper adherence to Corporate Process Owner best practices.
  • Develop and maintain an effective personnel development program for direct reports.
  • Actively support all plant policies, including EHS programs and regulations.
  • Understand product cost data, business information systems, and scheduling concepts.
  • Responsible for aligning team activity and focus to support manufacturing operation

    • through introduction of robust product and processes applying DMAIC methodology
    • through application of DMAIC tools to Root cause problem solving
    • by directly interacting with manufacturing leadership
    • by ensuring support across 7x24 operation

  • Responsible to work with appropriate support operations to ensure optimum alignment and performance
  • Will support Engineering Manager to ensure appropriate talent development
EDUCATION

  • B.S. Engineering

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Investment Casting.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology Engineering.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt training preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5M and aerospace specifications
  • 5 years previous supervisory experience of a technical group preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of investment casting process, customer specifications and quality systems.
  • Good understanding of financial data.
  • Ability to lead in a Team Environment.
  • Ability to solve problems and demonstrate effective time management skills.
  • Must have effective communication skills.
  • Ability to instill a sense of urgency, accountability and responsibility
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, Minitab, SolidWorks and/or UG preferred
  • Previous experience in building complex Aluminum and Steel tooling packages required to produce wax and/or plastic configurations
  • Experience with optical scanning systems and GOM software
  • Experience with CMM inspection systems and GEO software
