POSITION SUMMARY
The Dietitian will be primarily responsible for the provision of high quality medical nutrition therapy for bariatric and medical weight loss candidates in the out-patient program. This role utilizes the care process consistent with their license or certification including initiation of interventions within individual scope of practice. The Dietitian conducts pre-surgical evaluations of bariatric surgical candidates working as part of a broader treatment team consisting of surgeons and mental health professionals. The Dietitian stays current with information regarding the management of the obesity, the nutrition needs of the bariatric population, and general nutrition guidance for individuals seeking healthy lifestyle changes. Registered care providers responsible for utilizing the care process relative to their scope of practice and knowledge base, may document the assessment, plan, intervention and evaluation. All patient care activities are administered according to standards, procedural guidelines and organizational policy.
By participating in educational activities, the Dietitian assumes responsibility for continued professional and personal growth.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in related discipline and graduate of an accredited program for Registered Dietitians, Master's degree preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Registered by the American Dietetic Association.
EXPERIENCE: Experience caring for the bariatric population in an out-patient setting preferred.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position requires considerable walking and standing. May require some evening and weekend work. Essential functions of this position are listed on the department specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
