Job Description:

Best Buy's Boston Health Technology Center team is seeking a Test Engineer to help us advance our wearable device functionality/capabilities. These devices include wearable and IoT sensors to track activity, detect emergency events, and assess the current and future physical and mental health of seniors. This role will support testing activities across multiple durable product teams, including designing customer-obsessed verification and validation plans to ensure release candidates meet all requirements for their intended use. The Test Engineer will need to be self-driven, detail-oriented, and motivated, to join our fast-growing team. This team maintains and continuously improves our quality processes throughout the product development lifecycle of Best Buy Health products. Additionally, you will be expected to execute and document manual testing activities and interpret results into reports.

Minimum requirements:


  • 4+ years’ experience in a quality engineer or quality assurance role with a bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or MIS, or 6+ years of the same experience without a bachelor’s

  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing end-to-end software or device testing protocols

  • Demonstrated ability to assist development teams in root cause analysis, identification of bugs, and testing of implemented resolutions for software, firmware, and hardware release candidates

  • Experience with a risk analysis of new and existing product offerings, including wearable health sensors

  • Experience creating, implementing, and maintaining quality procedures and work instructions

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of appropriate design documentation for a comprehensive Design History File

  • Experience with test automation and container software (e.g. LabView, Jenkins, Docker)

  • Scripting and programming experience for automated testing

  • Experience working in/around data science, data analytics, algorithm development, machine learning or other data-driven software development

  • Knowledge of test data management to analyze and write technical reports

  • Familiarity with medical device design controls including ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820

  • Experience working in an Agile environment such as Lean, Scrum, Kanban, etc.

  • Experience using common project management tools (e.g. Atlassian JIRA, Confluence)

  • Knowledge of continuous integration and software DevOps approaches

  • Experience with MEMS accelerometers and gyroscopes
