Through clear communication with other IT team members, clients and vendors, design, implement, maintain and monitor the DentaQuest systems and applications. This position supports customers by performing Tier 3 level support for LAN/WAN systems and equipment inclusive of switches, routers, firewalls and networking devices. The Systems Engineer designs, develops and refines of all network systems and infrastructure. This position supports the technical and project management of large complex projects and has total responsibility for some projects. Work direction is self-generated and/or received from manager through verbal or documented instruction. Maintain and configure network components including servers and other devices, ensuring optimized functioning of the DentaQuest local and wide area network. Optimize network and communications equipment to maximize reliability while minimizing support costs. Document procedures, structures, and policies for operational support and maintenance of newly installed networking systems. Plan and coordinate system upgrades and patches through a change management process.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Tier 3 level support for LAN/WAN systems and equipment inclusive of switches, routers, firewalls and networking devices.


• Optimize network and communications equipment to maximize reliability while minimizing support costs.


• Document procedures, structures, and policies for operational support and maintenance of newly installed networking systems.


• Other duties as needed or required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Minimum of 5 years of related Cisco route/switch design / implementation experience including: Cisco routers/switches – 6500, 3700, 2800, 4500, 1000 etc. Cisco IOS, Nexus MPLS, BGP, EIGRP and other protocols.


• Checkpoint Firewall, VPN and other software blades. Checkpoint hardware appliances 21000, 4600, 2200, etc.


• Experience with Microsoft server technologies.


• Advanced experience with security infrastructures/devices/protocols/algorithms/mechanisms/ techniques/tools including routers, encryption, firewalls, WAF, IDS, IPS, SIEM, proxies/reverse proxies, VPNs, PKI, Two-Factor Authentication, RADIUS, DOS protection, forensics, flow monitors, packet capture tools, malware defenses.


• 5 years of related experience in network environments, including network engineering (hardware and software), network security practices and designing, planning and implementing LANs and WANs Excellent problem solving, debugging/troubleshooting skills are required.


• Excellent verbal communications and written documentation skills are required.


• Enterprise level experience.


• This is a senior level consulting engineer – candidate must have the experience to not only implement technology solutions, but be able to serve as a technical leader.


• Understanding of best practice implementation methodologies, following the Cisco Solution Reference Network Design guidelines as well as the Prepare, Plan, Design, Implement, Operate, and Optimize (PPDIOO) implementation framework.


• 2 years in depth knowledge of LAN/WAN networking systems demonstrating progressive responsibilities.


• VPN methodologies, VMWARE, Virtual Center Console, security and configuration. Network Security principles, technology and defense. Firewall (Checkpoint) installation, maintenance, and configuration.


• Expert level of understanding of data communications concepts and theory.


• Experience with various operating systems and hardened appliance systems.

Preferred:

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience with Cisco Professional level certification is preferred.


• CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, CCSE certification preferred.


• 2 years technical school or 4 year degree desirable.


• Bluecoat experience preferred Active Cisco CCNP, CCDP, CCIE and/or Checkpoint CCSE certifications are desired


• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbent must be able to communicate effectively. Requires overall light physical effort (up to 25lbs.) Manual dexterity and sitting is required in carrying out position own position responsibilities (i.e. use of personal computer). Ability to travel or move about within and outside serviced facilities required. Incumbent works primarily in either a private or shared office environment.
