Global Conflicts currently has a position available for a Vice President-level team member. The position is ideal for candidates who are interested in expanding their view of banking activities globally across JP Morgan Chase's Lines of Business, including high transaction volumes originating predominately from the Corporate & Investment Bank, and interacting with senior management on a regular basis.

Global Conflicts acts as a clearinghouse for client relationships. We review the firm's business activities to avoid or manage any actual or perceived conflicts of interest and/or related reputation risk. We gather relevant information about those relationships, assess where one relationship could conflict with another and provide senior leaders with a recommended path forward. These range from facilitating a business selection conversation to limiting business activities and managing deal team staffing. The Conflicts team partners with JPMC's Lines of Business and Control functions (e.g. Legal / Compliance) globally in performing its role.

Responsibilities include:


  • Review of new business opportunities to determine any real or perceived conflicts of interest within the Corporate & Investment Bank, Commercial Bank, and JPMorgan Asset & Wealth Management including some of the most complex transactions.
  • Frequent communication with Global Industry Heads, Product Heads, and Global Chairs to discuss the analysis of transactions, and conclusions arising from transactions.
  • Manage business selection process where necessary
  • Close co-operation with partnership with Legal and Compliance
  • Supervision and mentoring of analyst and associate team members in support of their analysis of transactions
  • Taking leadership role on group strategic projects (e.g., new technology, Banker training, new procedures etc.).

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Investment Banking; Mergers & Acquisitions experience or current/prior Investment Banking Conflicts experience strongly preferred. Candidates who do not possess this level of experience may be considered for an Associate position
  • Must be analytical
  • Must have the ability to chart and analyze the relationship among multiple global entities and identify possible conflict situations
  • Must have the ability to communicate (verbal and written) with senior bankers and the Firm's senior management in a clear, precise and efficient manner and offer sound independent judgment
  • Must have the confidence/fortitude to probe across the spectrum of stakeholders to ensure end analysis is complete
  • Must have the ability to manage matters and bring them to a timely completion
