Job Description:

Are you a talented designer with significant experience in digital design, UX/UI and traditional projects? Are you an all-around creative thinker who appreciates both current trends and historic design influences? Do you enjoy creating memorable experiences that drive business outcomes?

We are looking for a Senior Brand and UI Designer to join HeathStream’s design team.

The Senior Brand and UI Designer is responsible for leading the design team by example in developing visual concepts and executing creative deliverables for both traditional and digital media, at the highest level inside HealthStream.

As a Senior Brand Designer:

You produce work from quick prototypes and sketches that communicate an idea to polished, final files ready for print production, on screen use, or development partners.

You will be counted on to help develop, maintain, and advance the brand identity of HealthStream through the consistent and innovative application of color, type, photography, illustration, brand marks, and motion design.

You're capable of producing consistent, high quality work that will help chart the course of the visual future of the HealthStream brand. You'll be expected to have a good grasp on design history and current trends to provide suggestions that elevate the work of junior designers, respond to briefs appropriately, and continue to mature our brand over time.

You think critically and conceptually about how to solve each brief, staying true to the brand but avoiding creative ruts and a persistent just-get-it-done mentality. You should be able to spot holes and errors in poorly written briefs, and ask critical questions to clients to get them to the heart of their request.

You can present multiple viable executions to a well-written creative brief, executed at a high level, within a limited timeframe., You should be able to shift between heavy photo manipulation, illustration, type layout, light copywriting, and UI design.

You are capable of working in Microsoft products like Word and Powerpoint, and look for efficiencies in how we can create templates for our internal customers using these platforms.

You feel comfortable presenting your work and the work of junior designers to internal clients, as well as collaborating with external partners both from a creative and technical lead.

As a UI Designer:

You should have experience designing both for web and native mobile devices, understanding the common UI and UX conventions of the web, iOS, Android, and more platforms as needed. You should be able to quickly create prototypes of various fidelities to communicate your interactive ideas to internal and external clients.

You have an up-to-date working knowledge of front-end programming languages that allow you to understand the limitations of designing for the web, as well as the capabilities that modern programming methods and browsers will support.

You can execute deliverables to aid in any step of a digital project's life cycle, from paper sketches to prototypes of various fidelities, finished user interface design, and motion-based comps or prototypes using Adobe CC, Sketch, Figma, Invision Studio, or similar.

You understand the purpose of, and common methods of organizing, design systems. You'll be expected to help develop and maintain a digital design system that will power HealthStream's digital work.

You have a working knowledge of common UX patterns, and you understand the tight connection between user interface design and user experience. You're continually looking for ways to improve both the quality of your visual design and the usability of your interface design.
