Job Description
ProAmpac is currently seeking an Innovation Engineer - Sustainability. The position will report to the VP of Product Development and Innovation. This role will be responsible for successfully meeting the goals and objectives of the commercial organization by supporting development, growth and profitability of the sustainable packaging at ProAmpac. Achieved by creating, developing, designing, and testing of products for sustainable product platforms including recyclable, renewable, post-consumer recycled, compostable and rigid to flexible packaging.
* Research, design, develop, test, create specifications, and implement sustainable multilayer flexible film and pouch products; monitoring from lab scale to commercialization. * Collaborate with global and national brands, cross-functional teams, and material & process suppliers to develop specifications, evaluate, and control properties of substrates, materials and processes * Utilize project management skills to effectively drive product development and innovation projects including project summary updates, innovation gating process documentation, project planning grant charts, preparing pertinent IP collateral, ensuring freedom-to-use documentation * Complete cost analyses for projects to ensure opportunities for commercial success exist * Support marketing requests for product performance and technical information * Write product evaluation protocols, perform product testing, and author engineering reports with recommendations. * Keep abreast of and identify new developments and technologies in materials and processes
* Bachelor's degree required, chemical engineering, paper/pulp or packaging. Master's degree preferred * 1-3 years' work experience with flexible packaging * Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies required, such as Six Sigma, Lean, etc. * Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams) and Outlook * Work independently with minimal supervision, ability to resolve complex technical issues * Comfortability with understanding and applying research
* Travel as needed to ProAmpac locations, customer sites, equipment manufacturers, estimated at 30% * Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
