A program within our Defense group is seeking a Configuration Management Specialist to support Post Production Software Support (PPSS) and Post Deployment Software Support (PDSS) engineering and technical services to the CECOM Software Engineering Center Mission Command Division based in Aberdeen MD with operations located at both Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD and Ft. Sill/Lawton, OK. This position is based at Ft. Sill/Lawton, OK.

As a Configuration Management Specialist you will support the work we do for the US Army's FIRES family of systems, to include: AFATDS, JADOCS, FOS, FF-Q36, LCMR Q50, AN/TQP-53 and LCMR Q49 and will work with the software development teams developing software and documentation under the Agile methodology.

Primary Responsibilities
As a member of the Fires QA/CM team, the Configuration Management Specialist will perform a variety of functions associated with establishing and monitoring software and documentation development to ensure they are under configuration management control throughout software development and sustainment.

The areas of responsibility may include:

  • Reviewing project-level task memorandums to assist in analyzing and documenting the configuration management responsibilities associated with a given task.
  • Providing input regarding time estimates associated with configuration management activities as part of overall task-level budget estimates provided to Government.
  • Participating in sprint meetings, to include backlog refinement meetings, software requirement walkthroughs, sprint reviews, and sprint demos in order to be fully informed and immersed in the software development/sustainment process.
  • Participating in code reviews.
  • Reviewing code changes and boilerplate updates.
  • Conducting peer reviews of system requirements specifications/engineering change proposals.
  • Conduct CM builds of final release of software versions, service packs, and tactical system address books.
  • Create and maintain Version Description Documents.
  • Create and maintain configuration management policy and process documentation to standardize CM activities in order to maintain code integrity through the software development lifecycle.
  • Ensure CM work is aligned with the project's Configuration Management Plan.
  • Participate in yearly audits of the configuration management processes conducted by the project's Quality Assurance manager.
  • Monitor master version system schedules for CM activities and deliveries.
  • Prepare CM related documentation for on-time delivery.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in Computer Science plus 2-4 yrs of experience is required. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Previous configuration management experience.
  • Ability to analyze and document needs for improvement and propose solutions for issues within configuration management control.
  • Ability to communicate with software development teams.
  • Experience using Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • US citizenship in order to be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system.
  • Experience working with the Atlassian Suite of tools, specifically JIRA and Confluence.
