Sr. Java Developer - Payment Services at CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA Insurer

Job Description:
We are actively hiring for a Sr. Java Developer - Payment Services! Join us and support CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA insurer, in achieving our goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Designs, integrates, develops, modifies, debugs and evaluates highly complex mission critical programs for business functional areas.
  • Determines how existing applications, legacy systems, databases, Web interfaces and/or hardware logic operating on multiple platforms work together to meet the new and emerging enterprise requirements.
  • Develops methods to efficiently reuse existing components.
  • Directs and monitors the work of other developers, outside resources, and staff in the development of components of his or her build deliverables.
  • Formulates logic for new systems, devises logic procedures, prepares flowcharting, and data analysis through the application of professional programming concepts.
  • Ensures coding, testing and delivery of application enhancements and project build deliverables. Contributes to the development of applications and technology roadmap.
  • Recommends and implements changes in key development, maintenance and system standards.
  • Holds code walkthroughs and ensures that all code, from internal developers, external contracts or personally prepared, is production ready and complies with all standards including but not limited to: architectural, PCI, Model Audit Rule and internal audit standards.
  • Develops design specifications and parameters for highly complex applications that are in compliance with products' architectural blueprints.
  • Ensures that code is to set quality standards including: SDLC, Architecture, PCI compliance, Model Audit Rule compliance and internal Audit guidelines.
  • Develops complex, exhaustive, integrated test plans in conjunction with the Q/A Lead for performance and integration testing.
  • Reviews results for systems tests.
  • Develops, or directs others in developing, fixes for bugs discovered during testing.
  • Develops conversion and system implementation plans.
  • Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for approval of system and programming documentation.
  • May assist in development of product user manuals.
  • Participates in component and data architecture design, software product evaluation and buy vs. build recommendations for highly complex, technologically advanced and/or mission critical solutions.

What would make us excited about you?

  • Bachelors or Masters degree with 5-8+ years Java Development experience or combination of
  • Experience working on an Agile scrum team.
  • Experience using technical and creative skills to code new and/or modify existing information technology applications that facilitate and enable business initiatives, growth requirements and efficiency goals.
  • Experience collaborating with product owners to understand the particular needs then translate those into technical requirements in the form of user stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Passionate to design, develop, modify, test, evaluate and maintain mostly back-end systems written primarily in the Java language.
  • Ability to leverage other technologies such as Kafka, Linux, MQ, SOA, REST, JUnit and OpenShift in solutions.
  • History of; debugs software solutions and determines root causes for defects.
  • Develops integrated solutions to resolve highly complex technical and business features in the insurance payments space.
  • Recognized expert in development who often provides design recommendations, technical guidance and experience based insight to help the team decide on the best approach.
  • Experience providing guidance and training to more junior staff.
  • Internal consulting expertise.
  • Has the capability and desire to grow into a role that provides team leadership and feature level guidance on Enterprise Initiatives.
  • Highly qualified candidates will have experience working on secure, PCI-compliant payment systems including inbound processing, disbursements, settlement processes, suspense processes, credit card transactions and ACH.
  • Previous experience with insurance industry is a plus

In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (EPEWA) we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be, or could be, performed in Colorado. If performed in Colorado, this position has a salary range of $99,535-$117,100 with an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 10% of eligible pay.

Company benefit offerings include: Medical, Prescription Drug, Dental and Vision Plans, Health Savings Account (HSA) which includes company contributions, Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA), Reimbursement Accounts (Health Care Reimbursement Account, Limited Purpose Reimbursement Account), comprehensive Wellness Program including an activity portal and activities, Dependent Care Reimbursement Account, Transit Commuter Account Program, 401(k) Plan with company match on first 6% of eligible pay that employee contributes each year 100% vested, 401(k) Plan annual profit sharing contribution 100% vested, company paid Life Insurance (at 2x the annual salary), Voluntary Supplemental Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance (AD&D), Short-and Long-Term Disability, Paid Time Off (Non-Exempt positions only), Flexible Time Off (Exempt positions only), ten paid holidays per calendar year, Adoption Assistance Program, Infant Car Seat Reimbursement, Student Loan Repayment Assistance Program, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Enrichment Time of up to 40 hours per year to be used toward the categories of culture, development, volunteerism, or wellness.
