Asset Protection / Loss Prevention Store Detective - Archer Retail Store (Broadway & Archer) at Goodwill of Colorado

Job Description:

Archer Goodwill Retail is hiring for an Asset Protection / Loss Prevention Store Detective.  This person will work undercover and act as the liaison between the organization and law enforcement authorities as appropriate.  This person is responsible for proactive prevention of shortages caused by internal theft, external theft, fraud, and paperwork errors.


Minimum Pay starts at $16.00 an hour.

REQUIREMENTS 



  • Full-Time position

  • Ability to work nights and weekends

  • Must pass extensive background check

  • Must pass drug screening

  • Must be at least 18 y/o. Preferably 2-year college degree, preferably with Criminal Justice minor, or equivalent experience

  • Proven track record as a Loss Prevention Store Detective would be a plus.

 


Travel is required; must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.


Experience Required

Verifiable work history if previously employed and must possess one or more of the following:



  • A minimum of 2 years experience required in a retail security setting and apprehension, or similar role.

  • Graduate of an accredited high school or a Certificate of Completion of General Education Development requirements; and meet one of the following experience / education requirements:

Five (5) years of security experience within past ten years; or five years (5) years civilian and / or military work experience or three (3) years of law enforcement or public safety experience.


 


OTHER REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES



  • Prior experience in Loss Prevention or educational background in Loss Prevention, security or law enforcement preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions in stressful situations.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, basic math and reading skills and legible handwriting.

  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time moving around the store, including stock storage areas, office areas, and the selling floor. Physical activities include bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, standing, and reaching on a frequent basis. Associate must be capable of detaining theft suspects.


  • Investigate and interview individuals suspected of shoplifting and internal theft in accordance with local, State, and Federal laws, as well as company procedures.

  • Prepare investigative reports in a timely fashion for the Risk Manager, as well as working with the Human Resources Department and management of the area investigated for any personnel corrective action(s).

  • To conduct surveillance and monitoring on donation sites or other facilities as needed.

  • Perform loss prevention audits at Retail sites. Communicate and consult with Risk Manager, Store Manager and District Manager on audit results and trends.

  • Respond to incidents involving disruptive customers and be able to enforce the company No Trespass policy for persons excluded from the stores.

  • Act as liaison between the organization and vendor(s) responsible for site access, alarm monitoring and security cameras.

  • Create associate awareness related to internal and external theft, operational deficiencies, and physical security.

  • Provide an open-door policy for reporting any issues related to internal or external theft or loss prevention issues.

  • Act as the liaison between the organization and law enforcement authorities as appropriate.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Completeness, accuracy, and punctuality of reports and other assignments.

  • The ability to assist the Organization in meeting or exceeding accreditation standards approved or endorsed by Goodwill Industries International (GII) and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

  • Ensuring all investigative reports are kept confidential, except for sharing with those on a need to know basis.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and respond to special requests and expressed desires of the Risk Manager.

  • Initiative and quality of work.

  • The manner in which these individuals conduct him/herself should reflect the high standards of integrity and morals, which are expected of all Goodwill personnel.

Technical skills required: Must be able to clearly communicate with staff and site managers and be able to write in an organized and concise manner. Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point.
