As the Controls Engineer you will be responsible for lead the process of designing and implementing software solutions for the control systems. This individual will have the ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications in order to design new controls systems and also, will be able to perform troubleshooting and repair services. .  

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • The candidate will have proficiency with industrial Instrumentation and Control systems design and integration to include process instrument selection and specification, PLC/DCS conceptual, technical calculations, schematic and final design, programming and graphic development, and safety systems.

  • Be proficient with industrial Instrumentation and Control systems design and integration to include process instrument selection and specification, PLC/DCS conceptual, schematic and final design, programming and graphic development using engineering principles. 

  • Need to be able to design/build and validate systems which include pneumatic, servos, variable drives, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, push button and robotic integration

  • The candidate will be experienced in working with vendors, contractors, technicians and engineers to design, specify and consult on Instrument and Control systems delivering on time results. . 

  • Design of customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems. 

  • Provide technical support from line conception to installation, commissioning, and operation. 

  • Support system ramp-up and go live. 

  • Shift work on an as needed bases for system support and / or commissioning. 

  • Install, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices, and equipment.

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, electrical code specifications, and schematics in order to effectively troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment.

  • Diagnose, locate the cause of, and repair malfunctioning systems, and components using test equipment.

  • Assist Technicians and Contractors during preventative maintenance through inspection of electrical systems, equipment, and components.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records.

  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

  • Direct and train other workers and apprentices to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

  • Work on other electrical projects as required.

  • Requires some mechanical maintenance.

  • Ensure all work performed adheres to all relevant organizational, local and federal safety regulations, codes, and specifications.

  • Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

     

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Minimum 10 years’ Industrial Controls, Instrumentation, and Electrical experience required with preference given to those with a background in a manufacturing environment.

  • or BS Electrical Engineering degree with 5+ years experience in control and electrical system design with preference given to those with a background in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment.

  • Experience with routine maintenance operations.

  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.

  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Able to work well under pressure.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of safe operating procedures.

  • Self-starter, with developed analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Computer literate required, along with accountability, analytical thinking, problem solving skills and risk management.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office products Experience with industrial plant environments and site safety practices 

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:


  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

  • Familiar with PLC, pneumatic, servos, variable drives, relays, communication networks, Siemens, Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000, AutoCAD Electrical for manufacturing plants. 

  • Skills in automated industrial system designs including specification of vision, power, sensor, inspection, and communications systems. 

  • Programming experience is required. 

  • Control Programming of various control systems including Rockwell Automation, Siemens and Emerson

  • HMI Graphic development on various platforms including Rockwell Automation, Siemens and Emerson

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • 24/7 availability may be required.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.

  • Overtime as required.

  • Hazards associated with the trade.

  • Manual dexterity and the ability to remain standing, crouching, or bending for long periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:


  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) during the course of the workday

  • Work in a manufacturing plant setting which could include exposure to extreme heat

  • Personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes is required in the manufacturing / plant wide areas.
