Job Description:

Arcadis is seeking a Project Engineer to support the Construction Management team at the CalVet Yountville Skilled Nursing Facility in Napa County, CA. This role will provide engineering and technical support to the Arcadis Director, Arcadis Construction Manager and Client Project Manager. The project is being delivered using a Design-Build Contract and is just entering the Design Phase. On-site construction is scheduled to start late-Spring 2021. While Covid-19 protocols may continue to restrict face-to-face contact, this candidate will be expected to engaged full-time, on-site, when guidelines permit.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Provides technical and engineering support to the Yountville CM team including Project Manager and Construction Manager.

  • Support on-site QA/QC and on-site Inspector of Record (IOR) activities.

  • Support Commissioning activities.

  • Support CEQA and Environmental Mitigation requirements.

  • Coordinates with Client's Program Management Office (DGS) staff, contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, consultants, and CalVet Home staff

  • Participates in, and occasionally runs construction meetings

  • Makes field checks on construction, demolition, and rehabilitation projects to determine compliance with job specifications, plans, established standards, and OSHPD, SFM and State Architect (DSA) requirements.

  • Reads and interprets construction plans and shop drawings.

  • Assists in preparing written materials including correspondence, reports, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Supports development of weekly/monthly status and photos reports for project team

  • Reviews, estimates, negotiates, and processes construction change orders and construction field orders

  • Reviews and enforces construction services contracts

  • Manages and directs contractors and outside consultants including reviewing and approving invoices

  • Assesses project risks and develops risk registers including mitigation strategies

  • Facilitates resolutions of construction and design issues

  • Coordinates with stakeholders for timely and accurate responses to requests for information, submittals, Construction Change Documents, etc.

  • Generates and distributes meeting minutes (construction meetings, design meetings, etc.)

  • Confirms contractor's maintenance of record drawings prior to monthly progress payments to the Contractor

  • Maintain project files in both electronic and paper format

  • Reviews submittals for conformance to plans and specifications

  • Other job-related duties or projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:


  • Minimum 5 years recent professional experience in a similar or equivalent position involved in project management, design or construction.

  • BS/BA Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related degree.

  • Additional qualifying experience in excess to the minimum stated above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience on Hospital, clinics or Senior Care construction programs/projects.

  • Experience on Office of Statewide Health Planning & Development (OSHPD), State Fire Marshal (SFM), Division of State Architect (DSA) projects.

  • Experience with Procore or similar PMIS systems.

  • Professional Engineer License (PE), Engineer in Training (EIT), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or similar credentials
