Job Description:

The QA Engineering Specialist is responsible for assisting in the coordination of engineering and technical data related to Aircraft Repairs, Alterations, and resultant Inspections including soft copy, hard copy, computerized records (Trax software) interface, and Intranet. Lynden Air Cargo is a US part 121 all-cargo airline based in Anchorage, Alaska. Lynden Air Cargo conducts operations within Alaska as well as other locations around the world, utilizing its fleet of L382 Hercules aircraft. Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include assisting in the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs all assigned work in accordance with established policies and procedures as governed by Lynden Air Cargo’s Employee Handbook, LAC GMM and applicable CFR’s.

Supports the Maintenance Production team in the repairs and alterations of LAC aircraft by creating or revising Maintenance Engineering Authorizations, drawings, reports, wiring diagrams and other related technical data.

Works with outside entities as needed to develop LAC’s repair or alteration data, such as OEMs, DERs, other operators, etc. Collaborates with LAC internal departments.

Reviews repairs and alterations to ensure they’re accomplished properly, that damage tolerance evaluations are performed, and that any resultant inspections are received and incorporated into MEAs.

Performs data entry of the repairs or alterations, and their resultant inspections, into Trax and the MEA Master Spreadsheet.

Assists with Conformity inspections, Aging Aircraft inspections, and other needs by performing research utilizing current and prior operator repair data, Lockheed drawings, etc.

Maintains the LAC Wiring Diagram Manual by creating or revising wiring diagrams, and managing the LAC Wiring Diagram spreadsheet.

Performs receiving inspection of incoming parts for the Supply and Logistics department.

Assists Quality Assurance in CAS duties as the CAS Secretary when needed, and files Service Difficulty Reports for B and C Checks.


Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.



Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Associate degree (A.S.) from two-year college or university; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous airline/transport category aircraft experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, pressure, and force. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry as it applies to the technical aspects of the aviation industry.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Airframe and Powerplant License desirable.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must possess exceptional computer application skills. Extensive experience and skill in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access or other database applications, Adobe Acrobat, MS FrontPage, Web based programs, and other related applications. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be available to work days; and occasionally, if required, evenings, weekends, nights or holidays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
