The Senior Accountant responsibilities include AR monthly billings, AP, collections, journal entries, account analysis, payroll, monthly inventory adjustments and assistance with other accounting tasks to also include year-end tasks.

The Senior Accountant/ position is a support services position whose work routine is established and follows a set of procedures.  It generally functions under close supervisory direction or guidance of the Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities:


  • Support Accounting Tech with the completion and submission of customer invoices.

  • Perform AR collections to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices.

  • Processing AP invoices by cost center, to also include scheduling of payments. Review to take advantage of discount opportunities.

  • Review and reconcile monthly vendor statements.

  • Assist employees with submission of expense reports.

  • Conducting monthly budget analysis.

  • Reconcile company issued Purchasing Card (P-Card) statements.

  • Managing payroll system to calculate employee hours and prepare for processing. Assist employee with payroll discrepancies.

  • Perform GL reconciliation, and resolve identified discrepancies.

  • Assist with month-end closing by preparing journal entries, inputting revenue accruals in the current account system and performing account analyses.

  • Actively review and advise on financial/accounting process improvements.Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

  • General accounting experience that, in the opinion of the hiring supervisor, evidences the potential for future success in the accounting department. 3 to 5 years of GL experience preferred.

  • Prefer prior experience that included all relevant Accounts Receivable functions in a computerized environment, including maintenance, preparation, data entry, collections and reconciling accounts.

  • The ability to maintain confidentiality at all times while displaying a professional disposition.

  • Demonstrated ability to complete work in a timely and accurate manner to meet monthly deadlines.

  • Ability to establish credibility with all levels of management and staff of the Company to which they are assigned.

  • Ability to enter, revise, sort, calculate and create tables using Microsoft Excel.

  • Extensive computer skills (familiarity with MS Word and Excel along with on-line banking software). Must be able to operate a 10-key and PC keyboards by touch.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities to ensure deadlines are met. Results oriented with the ability to respond to the needs of the department and Company.

  • Sufficient reasoning abilities to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Must be able to work overtime as required, and the weekends if necessary.

  • The employee is regularly required to sit and use hands and fingers to operate a keyboard and telephone console.   The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. 

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.   The work environment is a general office/receptionist setting and is usually quiet.
