Summary of Position:  

This position is responsible for maintaining complete and accurate data and managing a flow of packaging specifications during development into an electronic system for Packaging specifications/UPCs on consumer products used by multiple internal functional areas and external suppliers/vendors.

Organizational Relationships: Reports to R&E Senior Packaging Manager

Key Responsibilities:


  • Enters, maintains, and provides accurate specification data and ensures proper control of all packaging information, specifications and UPCs.  Understands and follows corporate policies and procedures and industry standards for packaging specifications, including being recognized as an expert on bar code symbology, stock code creation and rollover/launch guidelines related to Packaging.  


  • Prepares packaging material specifications and initiates/manages changes or waivers to packaging specifications in an accurate and timely manner.  Adheres to standard work, work instructions and best practices. 


  • Facilitates flow of information in development of specifications, including problem solving for unique/different packaging set-ups, to successfully deliver project timelines and deliverables.  Serves as a central point of contact for in-process specification development.


  • Supports cross-functional teams while fostering positive working relationships with a proven spirit of collaboration and partnership to drive solutions that meet business and customer/consumer needs. 


  • Demonstrates working knowledge of K-C operations and production capabilities, as well as packaging and supply chain processes to capitalize on cost reduction opportunities and increase production and process efficiency.


  • Completes project assignments to support business and department objectives. 


Department Specific/ Non- essential functions, include but not limited to;


  • Works with Packaging and cross-functional teams to deliver business objectives. 
    Utilizes internal Packaging/R&E resources to deliver short- and long-term business results. 


  • Ensures the appropriate and effective protection for proprietary information.
    Supports the execution and utilization of business practices/processes within the R&E organization including IMF, LEAN and Portfolio Management. 


  • Ensures all work complies with corporate safety, regulatory, product safety and sustainability requirements.


  • Manages self in accordance with the One K-C Behaviors.
    Ensures that all elements of the corporate Human Resources Development and Diversity and Code of Conduct policies are fully supported. 


  • Communicates professionally and appropriately with all customers, conducting all communications and transactions with the utmost integrity and honesty so as to build an unimpeachable business reputation.

Minimum Requirements: 

Education required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:  


  • 5 plus years of accurate data entry or equivalent experience.


  • Advanced computer/systems skills; SAP experience is required, SAP/PLM experience is preferred


  • Prior Packaging Coordinator experience


Critical Skills/Qualifications:    


  • Strong planning/organizing and analytical skills


  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with conflicting deadlines and objectives 


  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships and work with multi-functional teams – recognized as a resource


  • Ability to communicate professionally in both oral and written form to inspire others to action


  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in an environment with a high degree of change 


  • Effectively utilize and manage multiple computer systems including SAP/PLM, Microsoft Office packages


  • Basic product and strong packaging process knowledge, including industry standards and best practices (ie GTIN/GSL)


  • Utilize tenacity and thoroughness in accomplishment of self-initiated and directed daily activities. 


Other Skills:    


  • Leadership skills will reflect One K-C Behaviors and competencies in alignment with the role


  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel


Working Conditions: 
Travel less than 10% of the work time. Travel may include business travels via aircrafts and motor vehicles to various locations. Working conditions require ability to effectively communicate with individuals and groups, work under normal office conditions and an ability to work in manufacturing sites.
