Responsibilities

The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for the following:

Category Planning/Projecting/Purchasing

    Develop Category Review schedule for negotiation
  • Manage and execute the sourcing effort per category review schedule

  • Track and be knowledgeable on commodity pricing and trends

  • Work with purchasing agents on cost changes and inventory levels based on changing costs

  • Act as SME for product materials including market trends, innovation

  • Manage the purchasing at least 1 category using SAP Ordering Suite and overseeing the delivery, receiving and vendor payment process working with Dry Goods and Accounts Payable


Sourcing / Supplier Capabilities (Vendor Management)


  • Demonstrate the ability to lead and influence internally and externally

  • Develop and issue RFPs for cost savings initiatives

  • Manage outside negotiating resources

  • Track all cost-savings efforts using scorecard

  • Develop yearly budgets for cost-savings

  • Coordinate efforts around material optimization/best practices -Budget, track and report on results

  • Manage miscellaneous vendor contract relationships (i.e. copiers, office supplies)

  • Maintain centralized list of active contracts

  • Manage onboarding/sourcing of potential co-packers

  • Manage contracts and relationships of current co-packers

Communications / Reporting / Process Improvement


  • Design reporting, Scorecards, dashboards to gain visibility and enable decisions

  • Track and report on Inventory levels, obsolete inventory disposition/progress, Inventory variances

  • Gain and understanding of forecasts verses actual material consumption - recommend improvement processes

  • Have or gain expertise on current reporting tools - BI, SAP

  • Communicate with Vendors - vendor Scorecard, CFG updates

  • Communicate with Internal partners (Marketing, R&D and Commercialization, Operations, etc) on product trends/innovation

  • Maintain open communication with purchasing agents

Team CFG


  • Participate in Supply Chain Department Meeting , supply supporting data as needed

  • Participate in continuous improvement and performance excellence opportunities

  • Proactive sharing of your knowledge and experience with Team Members

  • Cross functionally engagement with other departments

Qualifications

Position Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) required- Master's Degree preferred

  • Three to five years related experience in purchasing or materials negotiations or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Working knowledge of SAP (preferred) or experience with equivalent systems

  • Highly organized and detailed oriented

  • Proficient analytical and problem solving skills

  • Communication Skills - ability to present and speak effectively before groups of vendors, customers or employees of organization

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of manufacturer operations and/or materials usage in operations (preferred)

  • Inquisitive nature - seeks to understand
