Essential Position Functions :


  1. Provides excellent customer service to patients and their families, peers and other hospital personnel. Refers customer complaints to the Nurse Clinical Leader or the Director for collaborative problem solving.


  1. Helps to maintain a harmonious work environment among staff, physicians, patients and their families by demonstrating a positive attitude which promotes an atmosphere of warmth and caring.


  1. Performs all duties while maintaining patient confidentiality, privacy and respect.


  1. Demonstrates strict compliance with all policies/procedures that provide appropriate protection to prevent exposure to blood, body fluids and hazardous substances.


  1. Is proficient and knowledgeable in equipment use and recognition of malfunctions. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment. Corrects hazards promptly and reports all malfunctions appropriately. Adheres to hospital safety policies and procedures.


  1. Assists operating room staff with the preparation of the operating room for patient care, anticipating needs based on the pre-established OR schedule.


  1. Assists operating room staff with the turn over of operating rooms between and after cases following established hospital and OR policies and procedures.

  2. Assists the operating room staff with the terminal cleaning of the ORs between cases as needed.


  1. Demonstrates a commitment to containing costs and efficient use of material resources. Maintains and stocks the required par levels of supplies in the operating rooms and all areas of the surgical suite.


  1. Performs functions which ensure a clean, safe, and efficient environment for perioperative patients.


  1. May perform indirect patient care functions as assigned under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

  1. Is able to prioritize multiple requests for assistance in emergent and urgent situations.





  1. Attends all mandatory and departmental education inservices and participates in performance improvement programs.





  1. Is dependable, punctual and does not abuse sick time.





  1. Maintains the cleaning and/or sterilization of all anesthesia equipment in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, AAMI and Hospital Practice Guidelines.





  1. Cleans and restocks anesthesia equipment after each case and at the end of the work schedule, providing preventative maintenance and terminal cleaning within established parameters.




  2. Demonstrates positive and effective communication skills which relay clear, timely and accurate information.



Qualifications

Position Qualifications:


  • High School diploma or equivalency. Previous experience or one year on the job training desired. Must have working knowledge of hospital and surgical services policies and procedures with practice experience desirable.

  • Must be a Licensed Nurse- LNA
