Essential Position Functions :


  1. Provides security for the hospital's patients, visitors, and staff and safeguards the property by immediately responding to all requests and emergency codes.

  2. Maintains alertness for unusual, abnormal conditions or suspicious activities.

  3. Observes unauthorized persons and notifies supervisor or police appropriately.

  4. Reports potential fire or safety hazards.

  5. Performs and participates in security, safety, facilities inspections, fire watches, and alarm checks.

  6. Participates in related drills and tests.

  7. Actively, efficiently and professionally enforces all policies of Frisbie Memorial Hospital.

  8. Assists in various security situations as required or directed as outlined in the Emergency Management Manual.

  9. Reports questionable conditions, incidents and discrepancies to management or other appropriate staff.

  10. Writes detailed, accurate and objective Incident Reports and Daily Activity Reports.

  11. Conducts follow-up investigations as needed.

  12. Observes and maintains radio communication with the Switchboard at all times. Must be able to use computers, fax machines and telephones.

  13. Assists visitors, patients and others as needed.

  14. Provides testimony in state and federal courts if required.

  15. Assists with patient observations (watches and holds) upon request.

  16. Possesses the flexibility to work weekends, holidays and off-shifts as required by department staffing needs.

  17. Interacts with law enforcement officers and assists as needed.

  18. Will be required to physically manage an aggressive person and may be required to assist a law enforcement officer while restraining or subduing any person.

  19. Protective clothing may be required in places where exposure to chemicals or hazardous materials is possible.

  20. Demonstrates excellent attendance and actively participates in a variety of meetings and training sessions as required.

  21. Demonstrates a friendly, responsive, service-minded attitude to all internal and external customers.

  22. Communicates ideas effectively. Shares information and keeps others properly informed. Gives, and is open to useful feedback.



  • Adheres to HIPAA and all other policies of Frisbie Memorial Hospital.


  • Complies with established environment of care/safety policies and procedures and all health and safety requirements.




  • Maintains, and fosters, an organized, clean and safe work environment.




  • Actively contributes to the development and application of process improvements.


  • Maintains a collaborative, team relationship with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the group's achievement of goals and to help foster a positive work environment.




  • Demonstrates respect for the diversity of patient and employee populations.


  • Practices cost containment and fiscal responsibility through the efficient use of supplies, equipment, time, etc.




  • Will be required to drive a motor vehicle and adhere to the Driver/ Fleet Safety Policy.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

High School
diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.

EXPERIENCE:

One year
previous experience in hospital or campus security, law enforcement,
corrections or military is preferred. An equivalent combination of education
and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed
above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC. :


  • Must have a valid driver's
    license, free from restrictions and insurable by hospital insurance company.


  • A Department of Motor Vehicle Driving History Release must be submitted
    prior to employment and annually and must be in and remain in compliance with Frisbie's Driver/Fleet Safety Policy.


  • Must become, CPI, Handcuffing and CPR certified within three months of
    hire and maintain all certifications.
