Job Description
A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Saeidi's research group at
the Center for Engineering in Medicine and Department of Surgery at the
Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Our laboratory is broadly
interested in addressing fundamental questions about intestinal biology and
physiology. This project is particularly focused on studying the crosstalk
between the intestinal epithelial and non-epithelial cells, and how the
dysregulation of the crosstalk contributes to the pathophysiological
conditions. The postdoc will also closely collaborate with other members of the
lab who are investigating the intestinal remodeling following bariatric surgery
About Center for Engineering in Medicine
The Center
for Engineering in Medicine is affiliated with the Massachusetts General
Hospital/Harvard Medical school and houses 3 senior and ~10 junior PIs along
with a research staff >70; it's also the home to the BioMEMS Resource Center,
an NIH Research Resource. The research in the hospital is funded by NIH, NSF,
DOD, Shriners, MGH as well as industry.

The ideal candidate will have Ph.D. and/or M.D. and should have a
strong track record of research and publication in at least one of the
following areas:

b) Smooth muscle cell isolation, culture, and biology
c) In-depth experience with using innovative in vitro platforms
(such as organ-on-chip models) for the culture any of the intestinal cell types
d) Animal models of bariatric surgery such as Roux-en-Y gastric
bypass surgery
This position will provide an ideal opportunity for a creative and
independent postdoc candidate to take a lead on a high-risk but high-return
research project. Our lab and center have strong track record of mentoring
postdoctoral fellows to pursue fruitful academic career, with a large number of
our postdocs having received NIH F32, K99/R00, and K01 grants.
