Job Description:

Nyhart's Defined Benefit team offers pension actuarial consulting services for private, government, church, and cash balance plans. Our actuaries use their technical, financial and administrative expertise to provide guidance in the design and maintenance of retirement plans.

Our Defined Benefit is looking for Pension Actuarial Consultants in Indianapolis. Remote positions are also available.


  • Review and ensure timely delivery of individual benefit calculations

  • Review client data that has previously been prepared including performance of gain/loss analysis and assumption review

  • Review valuation reports and related required reporting for both PPA and Non-ERISA/Church/Government plans

  • Lead and review special projects, such as plan design, plan terminations, lump sum windows, multi-year projections, client conversions, and government forms

  • Primary contact for the client including independently leading client meetings and presentations


  • Consult with clients regarding benefit administration, pension regulations, and general retirement consulting topics

  • Review analyst work; act as final technical review for client projects.

  • Train and mentor actuarial analysts on technical work and client interaction

  • Assist leadership with internal development as needed

  • Analyze and improve internal processes and procedures to increase accuracy, consistency, and efficiency

  • Stay up to date on marketplace, regulations and trends related to all types of Defined Benefit pension plans

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, or related field

  • 10-15+ years pension-related consulting experience

  • On track to earn EA/FSA designation, ASA required

  • Proven client management sills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Superior analytical ability

  • Strong presentation skills
