Overview:




The Sr. Cost Accountant performs complex duties requiring advanced professional experience, knowledge and competency in product costing and cost reporting. This position is responsible for the managingand maintaining the cost accounting reporting systems and cost of goods sold reporting issues while actingas a consultant to all functional areas of the operations team.



The Sr. Cost Accountant willprovide a comprehensive cost analysis reporting package to act as a tool for operations and executive management decisions.




Primary Responsibilities/Essential Responsibilities:





  • Oversee the maintenance of cost control systems within Oracle including: Resource and Overhead rates, material cost changes, routing and BOM change rollups. Establish new standard costs on an annual basis.

  • Assist in the month end close process by closing out Inventory and Purchasing modules, running reports and preparing specific journal entries and account reconciliations as required during the month-end close process.

  • Responsible for the accurate and timely month end close process for cost accounting related activities. Includes month end cost accounting reports and analysis, variance review, and metrics reporting.

  • Responsible for maintaining and optimizing the standard costing and inventory system, including cost of goods sold accuracy, inventory value and quantity accuracy, item master/part number coding, bill of material and routing review, work order variance review, resolving system integrity issues, and accurate reporting.

  • Produce various daily and monthly operations analysis reports and provide insightful commentary when necessary.

  • Maintains accurate G/L account reconciliation's for inventory and other accounts, as assigned.

  • Maintain tracking of approved capital requests, construction in process and annual verification of fixed assets.

  • Work with Dover Business Services (Shared Services) as needed to assure proper reporting of financial records (e.g. AP, AR, Payroll Reports, General Ledger).

  • Responsible for participating in continuous improvement activities for improved operations of the Finance Team and Manufacturing Teams. Be a key player in helping the manufacturing teams increase inventory turns, improve gross margin, and improve inventory accuracy.

  • Assists in or provides leadership as needed in cost estimating projects for new products.

  • Monitor cycle count activity, audit actual counts and coordinates and support the annual physical inventory count.

  • Accountable for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in assigned area. Responsible for design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, including a self-assessment and report to management.

  • Conforms to Finance department guidelines for preserving audit trails and accurately documenting transactions.Prepare schedules as needed for the annual financial audit.




Qualifications/Requirements:




  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required.

  • Requires 2-5 years' experience in a fast-paced manufacturing organization.

  • Experience with a fully integrated ERP system, specifically in the cost accounting area. Preference will be given to Oracle experience.
