Overall Purpose

Responsible for the planning, design and analysis of the outside plant facilities/network. The primary function will be either a design engineer responsible for Actual Quality Control of major design engineering jobs averaging 50 drawings per job and more  or a Project Manager working with vendors, permitting agencies/review of permit submissions including Plan and Profile/to scale drawings and all particulars to specific permitting agencies in the state of Florida. The desired location is Miami.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Performs the detailed design/plan for all required feeder facility relief including Central Office (C.O.) transfers, major undertakings and /or routine activities after closely coordinating with the Planning/Design group. Provides detailed design/plan for facilities (feeder and/or distribution) to meet service demands. Conducts job costing activities. Requires full understanding for outside plant installation and maintenance technician activities. May include Loop Electronics Engineering/Coordination and Transmission Equipment Engineering. May be responsible for coaching and training other designers and/ or Planners. May monitor expenditures to ensure incurred costs are within authorized levels. May be responsible for the coordination of construction budget and project management activities. May be responsible for right of way functions including but not limited to determining legal ownership, existing encumbrances and fair market value of a parcel, acquiring easement interests and acting as the liaison to Legal, Risk Management, External Affairs and external customers regarding matters of easements, public or private. Ensures all right of way documents are properly processed and retained. May interface with customers and other internal groups to negotiate service intervals on delayed or potentially delayed orders, or to resolve ROW related matters. Participates with other groups to develop action plans to reduce operating expense through facility replacement, modernization, bulk recovery, records correction and minimizing ROW expenditures. Qualifications

Typically a high school diploma, GED or equivalent related network experience; additional technical training desired. Typically 1-3 years network related technical experience. Three (3) years’ experience in outside plant engineering/design or planning preferred. Extensive knowledge of all aspects of outside plant. STEM degree preferred. Knowledge of OSP facilities and workprints required.

• Must have a satisfactory driving record and valid drivers license
• Outside Plant engineering or Construction experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• 4 year Engineering degree
• Experience with computer aided design (CAD)
