Job Description:



An opening for a financial cost analyst for a large manufacturing facility in Western North Carolina. Our finance department is responsible for month end close, weekly and monthly performance reporting, annual budget development, periodic forecast updates and standard cost development. Analysts also report on various cost accounts throughout the month to assist operations in meeting their performance objectives, providing clear and concise information, picking out trends, highlighting issues and offering recommendations.

Job Responsibilities:

• The cost analyst will be deeply involved in labor and burden (overhead) performance reporting and analysis, including productivity, labor costs, scrap, indirect purchases, and corporate card expenses.

• The analyst will also be involved in determining costs of new products through a workflow process.

• To assist in maintaining corporate controls, analysts are responsible for auditing large appropriation requests, auditing cycle counts, assisting in the annual physical inventory, performing SOX testing for the plant, and assisting in periodic internal and external audits.

• Support the development of the Annual Operating Plan, as well as monthly and quarterly forecasts.

• Weekly performance reporting and analysis- particularly on labor & burden costs.

• Month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing requirements.

• Prepare journal entries timely and accurately.

• Determine accurate costs for new parts in the workflow process.

• Actively participate in the annual cost standards process.

• Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies.

• Participate in the Finance Department continuous improvement efforts.

• Perform SOX testing and assists with internal and external auditing requirements.

• Perform any other special financial and accounting assignments on an as-needed basis.

• Interface with other departments (teams) as needed.



• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

• Minimum 1 year in General Accounting or Finance experience or internship required

• Strong Excel skills required.

• Previous experience or training using Access a plus.

• Previous experience using Oracle or similar ERP system a plus.

• Previous experience using Hyperion Financial Management system or similar Consolidating Financial system a plus.

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

• Must be inquisitive and have the desire to analyze details- will be required to research large amounts of data, summarize it and present findings and recommendations.

• Must be organized and possess the ability to handle multiple responsibilities.

• Good communication/interpersonal skills required.

• Team player with the ability to work independently to meet financial deadlines.
